On the issue of straps

I just got some straps from BodyScuplt.co.nz that are wrist supports but have the grip flap on the inside so you dont need gloves or straps. THEY are awesome. I have small hands (being a woman) so its not really my grip but the fact I cant get the hands right around the bars where I fail doing full sets with heavy weight. These wrist straps ROCK, my training/lifting has been better since using them. My own forearm strength and grip is being used alot more!. And NO I dont work for body sculpt, around $50 I think but worth it!

Train Hard!

After the dismal failure of Bodybuilding.com to deliver the Hooker II straps I talked about ordering earlier in this thread (see the long sad saga here), I searched various NZ fitness stores (both online and physical).

While some of them had the hook style, none of them were quite what I wanted. So I've just ordered a pair of Extreme HOOK Lifting Straps from http://www.prowriststraps.com/weight_li ... ook_straps - hopefully they can do better than Bodybuilding.com. I'll let you all know how I find them. :)

hangon, let me rephrase, not bodybuilders, more the values of training, picture the big boy on the beach who has huge biceps, yet the guy who is small as can outlift him etc, decoration only, no function at all.

looks like tarzan, plays like jane!

id rather be huge and lift small weights than be tiny and lift big weights

Then stop doing sets of 1-4 reps because pretty much the only thing you're gaining from that is strength. Higher reps for atrophy

I think the word you are looking for is HYPERTROPHY. Atrophy is the exact opposite of the common goal of Bodybuilders:

at·ro·phy ( P )

n. pl. at·ro·phies

Pathology. A wasting or decrease in size of a body organ, tissue, or part owing to disease, injury, or lack of use: muscular atrophy of a person affected with paralysis.
