New Breaktrough Gemma Protein???

I am interested in getting some protein. I see nutratech has got some new Gemma Isolate which is higher in Bcaa than whey isolate and is $79 for 5Lbs which sound sweet to me. It's called Lypotropic. I just want to know the taste, has anyone tried this?

It's not higher in BCAA's than WPI, infact most decent WPC's will have more BCAA's than gemma (pea) protein. It's bloody high in Glutamic acid, aspartic acid and arginine though, and being lactose free is good for people with dairy allergies. Unfortunately it doesn't contain any of the important microfractions that you get in whey so it loses out there.

There doesn't seem to be much info available about its BV, it's absorption rates, or whether or not it is even a complete protein source. Since whey has gotten so expensive some companies have jumped on the band wagon and trumped it up to be the greatest thing around, however unless you're a vegetarian or have a dairy or lactose intolerance, whey is still the best protein available.

Unfortunately LG's Lipotropic protein contains the artificial sweetener saccharin which may not be that good for you - up until 2001 all US products that contained Saccharin had to have a health warning on them about the possible cancer/health risks. The FDA dropped that in 2001 however many countries have banned it's use all together.

As I have a dairy intolerance myself I have thought about using this product but will steer clear of it for now because of the Saccharin. If they do a naturally sweetened or unsweetened one I'll be all for it.

So, how was it? I just ordered some yesterday. Didn't know about the sweetener so hopefully it's all good.

Tastes really weird but you get used to it...mixes better in water and goes down easy.

I will Probley just stick to ON 100% whey when i run out.

Agreed...this is more for the 100% vegan and lactose intollerant
