another first timer on stage asking advise.

hey guys and gals. Well im competing for my first time 11th oct NZFBB CNI's \:D/ and im kean for all advice possible :pray: . Im currently at 11% bf and have a reasonably phyical job so need to take that into count with the following changes.

Im looking for advice on such things as

-when would it be recommened to cut out most carbs (ie 2-4wks?).

-what sort of foods to be stayin away from when cuttin carbs.(ie porridge, full eggs, rice?)

-what replacement foods can be introduced at this time. (toast rice crackers?)

and what sort of recommended cardio workouts on top of training(ie 1hr walks daily?)

so yea..... if any1 can help with any of the following it would be greatly appreciated :pray: .

oh ok ....umm 6ft , 91kgs at 10%bf. current daily diet

7.30-porridge with water

protein shake

10am- 6eggwites(1yolk)

12-tuna

pasta

3pm -protien bar

after training-protein shake

cooked meal

10pm -protein shake

i train 5day

1-back

2- chest

3-legs

4-arms

5-shoulders

reps between 12-17, (most things) 1hr long sessons and currently not doing any cardio

also i have a wife and kids at home so i cant spend as much time/money as i possibly need etc but have to make due what i can

hey deep... na dnt have any pics.( my way of thinking is ,theres no point posing for pic if u not on stage lookin your best :? )so guess that why i wana get up there ,so i can start an progress album or sumthing??

umm i think il be in the 'novice 80-90kg' or in the '80+' if there not enough to fill the 'over 90kgs' class

Pose away and get some pics!! The more you pose the more confident you will become doing it.

Pics will show where you need improvements... not only to others but also to yourself; especially your back which you cant see in the mirror. :o)

Best of luck, the first show is the toughest (well, to me it was), and then hopefully you'll be hooked!

To be honest, I'd recommend seeing a nutritionist - especially since this is your first time competing. We could give you some generic tips, but there'd be a lot of guesswork involved. I'm sure someone can suggest an expert in the Waikato for you.

did someone say nutritionist in hamilton? :nod:

I look at lifestyles as part of my consulting process, which means providing a realistic food plan that gets results, and also sets you up to be able to tweak things for yourself in the long run and also makes it practical with a family. Be very careful where you get ya advice from....As most of them just want to make money....Do your research on what they say their achievents are in the sport. You want someone who has personaly gone the journey, and has the photos to back it up. Not these 1st and 2nd timers that have done a show, and because they have a piece of paper think they are the shit.

yes, good point. Definitely check their legitimacy. Some people have pre-written 'advice' based on what they google and 'their' experiences and are out for a quick buck - good people to talk to are trained Nutritionists that also understand and have experienced the principles of bodybuilding (both lean gain and body fat loss). A well rounded nutrition expert will be able to provide the best whole food options as well as supplement options and ensure you're still getting the most bio-available nutrients to minimise deficiency, maximise energy metabolism and keep immunity high. No sense dieting down and then looking ill on stage.

Totally agree with ya!! Watch out for the 'supp pushers out there too.. get into good clean food, good training and keep track of your progress with skinfolds, pics etc.
