BAD EMAILS

Recommended Posts

Over the past few weeks, I have been on the boards here, and also on stage. I find talking to others within the fitness or competing field inspirational, exciting and often very informative.

Putting myself out there to the public (and also having a website) opens you for contact from supporters, friends, new clients, and other competitors which is fantastic, but the down side is that it also brings out people who like to attack you for what you have done.

There is someone out there who enjoys emailing me, giving me 'constructive criticism' and basically harrasing my competing, training, ethic and business.

Who the hell do these type of people think they are!? I've got a pretty good idea that the person is using an pseudonym.

If I get any more, I'll very highly consider pasting them on here for your amusement.

Thats no good Sheta. Its probably just a bit of jelously and slight obsession because you are doing well, but I suppose it would be hard not to take it to heart.

I agree on the jealousy... the name of the person hasnt placed at any show over the past 3 years, so am putting it down to just that!

I dont take it to heart; it just annoys me when someone tries to attack what I do. Rude Rude Rude!!

Like your attitude to this PITA, Sheta...it sounds like jealousy, rivalry or whatever...and the fact that some people just can't stand to see others be recognised for their hard work.

So yeah, like BG says, a good slap upside the head is in order if they keep it up...metaphorically at least!

I agree with Marcus, post them up Sheta. Your a wonderful positive person who is currently doing a lot to support a sport you enjoy.

Unfortuntely, you are probably being the victim of a very common affliction in this country.....Tall Poppy Syndrome. So, be the poppy and rise above it!

Hi All,

Well, once again I have received another email. As I mentioned at the start of the post, I would paste them up. Below is what I have been sent. I have been very polite with my first (and only) response. In regard to the most recent one that I received, I must confess to being very busy and had not had time to amend my results on my website. But really is it such a crime to have slightly outdated (3 weeks) information!? This has since been amended to keep Summer happy. Bless.

Does this person have a life????? Hmmmmm... I'm interested to hear your thoughts!

Hi.. I couldn't help but notice...."I am currently placed 1st in the Waikato and 3rd in NZ with NABBA. With the NZFBB I am currently 2nd in Taranaki"...How do you get off my saying shit like this....Please get your facts right..Keep on making yourself sound good...its sad!!!!How do you justify saying that...Be a true sports person stop making up excuses..Change your status on your bro magazine..You are not the current Waikato figure champion...at the end of day..Be true to yourself, for other people are laughing at you...

Hello Summer,

I have never seen a diary of Lisas so cannot answer you. Mine are A5 size, with 12 weeks of pages; one day to a page.

Thank you for your comments. I have been entering Novice, as I had not placed in Nationals (with NABBA) till last season. I am competing in Open Figure at the Waikato NABBA show. As for my size, NABBA sets a weight to height calculation, and I compete within that threshold - if I am to go over it, I need to compete in Physique; which I of course dont have the build for.

I have also competed with NZFBB, and am still considered a novice with them as first, I have never won a NZFBB Regional show, and secondly, I have not placed with NZFBB at Nationals (and havent competed at a Nationals event).

Novice is for those who havent won a regional show, or placed top 3 at nationals in that year/season of competition.

As for my pics being the same; you would know as well as I do, that changes in body fat and lean mass cant be picked up with the camera but are there from show to show.

All the best,

Sheta

Thanks team! I agree with all of you. I have been tempted to responde but I wont go down to her level.

This person is so damn negative; a trait that will bring more negativity into her life. Good 'ol law of attraction!

Why is it people think that competitive Body Builders and figure competitors are public property and have no feelings? Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but there needs to be a level of tact - although I do think this person just wants to get a rise out of you Sheta. It’s just rudeness. You have always seemed to be nothing but a positive roll model for this sport. But as it's been said before, in this sport you have to grow thick skin – sad but true. I commend you on handling a situation that has offended you with much grace and class. It’s a small sport in a small country, we should all support each other.

 lol. and SHE has the nerve to say 'be a true sportsperson'... hardly sportsperson like to write things like that isn't it. I look forward to her next installment and seeing her..ahem..perfect...(trying to not choke on my tears of laughter) ass on stage... if she has the balls to drag it up on a NZ stage somewhere. Come on 'Summer' show us what you're made of!
