Hey guys,

uhm im from germany and just arrived in NZ 3 weeks ago. the problem is that i cant seem to find the food i ate in germany. so far i only found rolled oats for carbohydrates and tuna, cottage cheese, eggs for protein. what do u eat to get enough protein? i cant eat meat too often since i dont wanna spend too much money. where do u buy ur meat?

Pak and save supermarkets or the mad butcher. Premium beef mince for $10 per kilo or less, ocassionally chicken breast for 10-13 per kilo, else buy whole frozen chickens and eat as necessary. I buy alot of calci trim milk because it has double the protein of normal milk, although there is debate about the absorbtion when the fat is removed.

k thx guys

and what else do u eat to reach ur (2g protein/kg body weight)/day? i cant eat like 3 tins of tuna and 2 cottage cheeses a day (can i? XD) because its better to get the proteins from different sources. can someone maybe post his food plan? in germany we had curd cheese that tasted like natural yoghurt and had the same nutritive value as fat-free cottage cheese. and now i have to eat that cottage cheese that rly tastes like cheese and not like yoghurt ^^

@poos_n_wees i moved to christchurch. but im just here for 1 year as an exchange student.

Haha that is terrable advice bro. Paturised Milk is shit, calci trim is even worse!

That was why i added the it about absorbtion.

Anyways to get my protein my daily food looks like this

breakfast: oats, yoghurt, berries, raisins. - double scoop protein powder with splenda, unsweetened cocoa, olive oil and yoghurt. Couple of apples, and whatever else i scrounge in the fridge. bcaas and 3 fish oils.

2nd breakfast: 250gm premium mince, frozen veges, chilli beans, lite sour cream.

lunch: chicken breast, frozen veges, random sauce, olive oil.

2nd lunch: same as 2nd breakfast. but with additional oats, yoghurt, raisins.

dinner: shrimps, squid rings, mussels etc, dolmio pasta sauce, frozen veges, olive oil

2nd dinner: double scoop protein smoothie with berries and a banana.

before bed - 200 gm low fat shaved ham and lite tomato sauce, bcaas, f3 fish oils.

whats premium mince? and doesnt sour cream mainly have fat and like no proteins?

what your goals dude? last time i was in nz i had no problem finding my next meal

my goal is to eat 200gm protein, 80gm good fats, 150-200gm carbs a day. and i have to figure out how i can do that since i dont have the foods here i used to have back in germany. u cant just eat whatever u want if u want to gain muscles but no fat.

l3pwn, your macronutrients come to around 2300 calories, essentially a weightloss diet for most unless you are quite light, im trying to add muscle so 3000 non working out- 4000 working out day calories is my aim. The sour cream is reduced fat, I like the taste and need the extra calories. Ill manipulate the amount of olive oil I use in order to lower/raise calories to the desired level depending on what im eating that day.

Premium mince is the lean beef mince, the variety with less fat.

You gain muscle by having the appropriate amount of protein and excess calories.

i know but i wanna lose some fat first and then ill raise my carbs to like 400gm a day.

and even with that calories u can build some muscles. just way less than u can with like 3500 calories.

and a tip for u since u said u try to get some more calories with that sour scream... try to eat more carbs like rice n oats to reach ur calories.

i should get ur calories from 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat. so on work out days that would be 500gm carbs, 300gm protein and like 90gm fats.

The shaved ham has a bit of sodium and a few preservatives but its low on fat and carbs and high on protein and its cheap as chips at pack and save at the mo. The lite sour cream is to taste, theres hardly any fat in a tablespoon of lite sour cream and about 40 calories.

Apart from that i dont see the problem.

Mine is somewhere in my journal bro. I would doubt the shaved ham you are buying is anywhere near 100% meat.

Mince is fairly high in fat and low in protien. You have taken a normal persons diet and just doubled the amount it seems... All good if you are gaining I guess. Just wouldn't reccomend it to anyone personally.

Jesus - when did shaved ham become a source of protein? - it's over 50% fat by calories. It's cheap as chips for a reason - for every 100g you buy you're getting over 60g of water, about 8g of fat and 16g of protein- and around 1300mg of Sodium. Wicked.

i know im gonna buz some whey protein for post workout and some multi component protein for other times of the day. but u shouldnt get all ur protein from shakes. the healthiest way is to get it from normal food. but ill probably take like 1 shake a day and 1 whey after every workout.

EDIT: btw just bought some chicken breast.

I said low fat shaved ham, this stuff is either 98 or 95% fat free.

16 grams of protein per hundred at like 7 bucks a kilo fits my student bill nicely as a change from chicken. Never said it was the best source or a usual meal just showed what I ate one day.

Sorry for the hijacks l3pwn.

I like the sour cream, i dont raise the calories much with it. I personally dont believe in a best nutrient ratio, the anabolic diet with most of the calories coming from fat and some from protein and none (less than 20gm per day) coming from carbs seems to work just as well as any other diet after you adjust to the keto. Saturated fats are necessary for testosterone production.

What i do believe in is carbohydrate timing to keep fat gain at a minimum, the only time i eat a decent amount of carbs is breakfast and postworkout. Carbs and protein alone illicit a large insulin spike.

As for the chicken breast it comes on special every now and again for 13 a kilo, or at the mad butchers with skin on for 10 a kilo.

Dude - low fat ham is a MYTH. As i said ham typically has around 8g of fat per 100g - hey that's low fat, it's only 8% fat.......but that's still 72 calories of a total of around 140 calories - which makes it 50% FAT! Even if you've got 95% fat free (laugh) ham, they will have pumped it full of even more water which equals less protein, and most likely still 50% or more fat by calories. If you're on a keto diet it's probably not a big deal but don't go using it as an example of a good diet for L3pwn.

7 bucks a kilo? - a kilo of ham gives you at best 160g of protein plus 13 grams of sodium.

13 grams of sodium is equal to 33 grams of table salt. You'll blow up like a balloon and you're blood pressure will go through the roof.

You could get the same amount of much higher quality protein for less than $7 from a good whey protein. Ham should not be considered a source of protein.

I wasnt aware they were blatantly lying about fat content, yes i knew it was high in sodium thats why i never recommended it and why i only ate 200 grams for one meal, if you will read my post where i recommended foods it says lean mince and chicken breast, lean mince CLAIMS to be less than 15% fat before draining.

When he asked what we ate, i posted what i ate that day.

Still no recommendation of ham, im sorry if it appeared that way.
