First comp coming up.....shit!

Ok people, I'd love some of your wisdom thrown at me.

First comp at NABBA SI 13th Sept. I'm very happy with where I sit, feeling confident with cutting/routine etc. However, my weekness is the size of my legs. I'll cut up quite nicely I reckon, including my legs, but I've really struggled to put some decent sweep on the quads. I actually have a history in triathlons and have always had "runners" legs, you think this makes a diff? My PT is a top dog and thinks I can still show it off well and is not too concerned as I'll cut up something mean, but I'm a perfectionist so nitpic everything  The weird thing is my leg workout is the one I look forward to the most. Should I be so concerned? Ppl who have mega comp experience says typical first timer and to relax a little.

Any thoughts you guys?

I would say if your leg workout is the one you look forward to the most then there something wrong :D I start dreading legs 3 days before .How long have you been training ? Legs are not an easy body part to bring up unless you are genetically gifted in that area normally take a few years of hammering. Whats your routine.

u cnt make them much bigger by sept 13th sorry to break it to u and yr PT but thats the truth

:ditto:

IMO now's not the time to try and increase size.. all you can do is try and maintain the muscle you've already got

Completely normal! We're all in the same boat ;)

I'm not the best one to be handing out this advice (I'm freaking out about how I'm gonna look onstage too LOL) - but now I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling this way!

You won't be able to add size now, leave that til the off season. All you can do now is practice posing your legs so that they 'look' like they've got sweep. Do you have any pics of you practicing? What position do you have your legs in?

I have the same problem with my legs but like others have said you will have to do it in the off season. Get them ripped to bits and experiment with your posing to give the illusion of them being bigger.

Remember legs are one of those body parts which can be very stubborn and take a long time to mature.

Good luck for the 13th

Hard is for pussies who dont mean it(take it from me, anyone who can complete an ironman in less than 10hrs nows how to mean it). Hard is when you can still stand up and take a step forward. Hard is when still have vision after your workout - and I have neither of these after a good bashing of my pins :pfft:

I mix and mash the following tossing in supersets/dropsets etc:

Leg Extensions

BB Squats

DB Walking Lunges

BB Hack Squats

Negative hammie curls(on lat pulldown seat).

Seated/lying leg curls

Deadlifts

Standing/seated calf raises.

Normally I start with leg ext to isolate and warm up, and then get into it. 45mins max. Hammies never done on same day as quads.

As for posing - I've been taught to have feet at 45deg to give the illusion of the 'sweep'. This posing shit is intense, but I love it. I can see how the best bods can look crap if posing is crap.

Everyone your input is truly appreciated.

no this is an excuse for not training them hard enough

Don't think so sunshine, its reality unless your throwing growth hormone in.

Some people are slow gainers

i tend to agree that legs do take a long time to get size on. but this is because they don't get trained hard enough. everytime i train legs "hard enough" i need a wheel chair to get me home. so i can see why we don't always train hard enough :) if you know what i mean?
