Hey ladeeeeeeez cool_shades.gif

It scares me to death to be asking this question... But for those of you that compete.. how far out in your prep do you order your bikini?

I'm currently ~9 weeks out, but not sure what size I'm after 'cos I don't know how lean I'm gonna be unsure.gif... BUT I want to get this sorted out early in case the bikini maker (whoever I decide to go with) gets too busy.

Is it best to order now? Or wait until I'm like 3-4 weeks out so I can get a better idea of what size I'll be onstage?

You will be fine to order now hun. Just tell them how far out you are and approximately how much weight you plan to lose before then. A good bikini maker will be able to allow for the difference. Depending on where you order it from too, you will need to allow a week or so for delivery. The place I use in the states (CC Fitwear) do 2 day delivery to the UK.

Hey P_n_W - I'd highly recommend you contact Ali Gascoine to get your bikini made. Ali is very well regarded and designs & makes a truck load of bikinis and posing trunks each year. Also, she lives in Pukekohe, and I'm guessing by your Avatar that you might live nearby?

I can pm you her details if you are keen.

Ali has made all of mine - and she works fast! And if you loose more weight than you anticipated it's not far to go to get adjustments made!

Ali is definitely fantastic to work with, she rang me last night about altering my bikini's from last year. She can work wonders with tiny pieces of fabric lol

Im also a fan of Alis. Towards the end of the season/year she can get pretty busy so let her know as soon as you can what show you are planning to do, so she can make time for you.

If you can manage to see her, she will try you in different cut tops n bottoms to find out what suits you best!

It pays to pick your fabric too; Ali wont use the same fabric for compeititors in the same class at one show. She has sooooo much to choose from, or, you can also send her fabric then bling it up yourself (which is also a slightly cheaper option)!

Im pretty sure if you PM someone here you can get Alis contact details.

I am competing this year in Physique for the first time.

I don't really know what physique competitors do. Is it ok to buy a well made black posing costume and wear it for both pre-judging and the evening show, and perhaps wear some jewelry in the evening?

I am not trying to be budget but I don't particularly want to buy 2 costumes if it doesn't really matter?

Also, what kind of price should I be looking at to purchase a good basic black posing costume?

No doesn't matter - most athletes chose black as it doesn't detract from your physique during the pre-judge. When you come back in the evening - unless your class is really close you points are already scored so you can / optional use another pair. If you qualify for overall it is fully scored again - so black could be an advantage for both.

.... Oh and no I'm not a female but my chest is bigger than most of the girls on the forum

Maybe ask any friends that have competed if you can loan a bikini.

I've mangaged to get quite a collection of figure bikinis over the years (many from girls who only do one show and sell them on) and am happy to rent them out for a small fee.
