So, I have an addiction - basically I have too much blood in my caffeine system :pfft: .

Anyways, I know coffee should really be taken black, however whats your opinion on a little cow juice and artificial sweetener(ie equal)?

Another self-confessed coffee addict too... I don't even know why I buy coffees since I just drink them plain (one large long black pleaseeee) with no sweeteners or milk. I think my taste buds are desensitized lol.

TFB and Flamer belong in this thread.. :pfft:

There's no harm in trying it :) If it starts to affect your results/progress though, it'd be the first thing to cut back on imo.

Yep, I agree with that.... Take them into account when doing your meal plan. I don't know that I've seen any research that says the combination of milk of any kind (regular, lo-fat or whatever) and coffee is less effective than coffee on its own, so from that point of you (in my opinion) you're doing no worse harm if you're adding milk or sweetener (tho goodness only knows why  )

I'm dieting for comp so cut out milk now. I find drinking black has made me more hyper  I roll about in bed till about 11 :? Drink as much as you like I say, within reason. Trim milk and sweetners are great if not a few weeks out from comp

I know this feelin!! As BG says - for comp prep cut the cow, if not cow away to your hearts content. Once I finish comp season is latte as big as the come. At the moment - long black, or a macchiato if I'm feelin the need for "something else".

Ive managed to avoid the whole coffee bug but intead drink far too much Pepsi Max.

Infact Pepsi max, the occasional sugar free "V" and Sugar less eclpise gum form my escape/sanity foods during pre comp dieting up untill about 1 week out when they all go.

That last week is a "challenge".

I have found that having a sugar free "V" or a Fubar pre workout pill really does help my workout intensity though.

Noir from Nescafe kicks ass. Its really strong but tasty and great for kick starting the heart into gear first thing in the morning. Wouldnt get up without it.

Also a fan of 'V' and the occasional red bull before a workout usually gets me going. That and a Phramasport thermo for some intense workouts.

Yeah, I love coffee too - a nice big shot of caffeine is essential late morning to stop me falling asleep at work after doing a 6am workout earlier in the morning!

I have always tended to avoid having coffee before going to bed, but I read somewhere recently that it apparently takes about 30 minutes for the caffeine to kick in, so having it just before going to sleep shouldn't keep you awake for hours. I guess it depends on whether or not you're going to bed to sleep!?
