Jono,

Darc hurt his knee, cartilage issue with a heap of fluid to boot. He's going to flag, but is keen as to join us next year (he's just joined the gym Nickoli & I are at).

Should be a good day - Nickoli's looking solid at 120 but in a lot better shape that last years 115. His tyre & rock times are looking sharp too - you fellas are up for a good battle!

Any word on the other competitors?

Nate

Sucks to hear about Darc.

That's good, combined with his deadlift we can write Nickoli in as the early favourite.

Not much news re the other competitors. Big Willie the Tongan should be hard to beat on the truck pull, but his overhead and conditioning are weaknesses. Victor is a strong guy, but is a bit of a strongman novice. Jono R is quite similar to Justin K, but won't be up near 105kg+ on the log like Justin should.

Mick is always a dark horse and has a very strong back and grip. He's deadlifted over 300kg without the levers that Nickoli has. Plus he's quite fast on his feet for a big guy, 18.x seconds in the farmers is testimony to that. Mick is bringing a guy up with him who is apparently pretty strong as well. Andrew Soutar hurt his shoulder on Saturday and had to pull out. Not really sure who else is in. Reuben was going to come get 'his title' back, but seems to have been too busy to train adequately for a 2 day show.

Stas- WOOKIE POWAH!

Hopefully some people will get some decent pics, I'll try get some vids.

Jono,

How you coping with the week off, I'm assuming you're having one?

After a slight deload last week in weights (but not implement training - altho volume dropped) this week is killing me!!!! I'm freakin irritable & cant wait to get to Akld to throw some heavy sh*t around!!

Talked to Black today & he said you were amping for the comp too; I might have to ask him to graveyard shift you for the next 3 days when he's over for dinner tonight - that should slow you down a bit & give us some chance! :P

Give you a call Friday - txt ur digits thru I lost them!

Nate, it's been interesting. I trained some Oly lifts and fast deads on Monday and a light circuit Weds. Just to keep my sanity. These days I don't like weeks off, makes me feel weaker that way. You don't need Black to graveyard shift me, I'm doing that myself! Up till 3:30am last night doing assignments and won't be done till late Friday. Not enjoying it at all.

Friday morning I'll be on the Breakfast show around 8:45am with the show promoter to advertise the strongman and BBT. Might be worth tuning in if you can, will hopefully have the presenter try pull the truck!

Are there any women doing strong"man" in NZ? I had a go at a friend's training session in Sydney and loved it! I would love to get into it if possible.
Funny you should say that HC,

Although there is no womens class, there is a challenge on the friday which Matt has said there will be prize money for successful female entrants. So any gals with grips (sounds dodgy!) roll on up!!!!!

Hi Nate, hpow you feeling after the weekend?

enjoying your can of woop arse? hahaha

looking forward to BBT 2009

Yeah bro you got me! After losing in 3 events on bodyweight I've ordered the "I got beat by Annorexia" T-Shirt! Seriously tho well done mate.

Awesome comp, really happy with my efforts & have taken away some 'workons' for next time. Nick was stoked and a well deserved winner, might be time for him to consider what he wants to specialise in PLing or Strongman?
