Teenage Compitions!

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody!, I was thinking and have decided me and my mate want to join a competition next year. well i was just really wanting to know what tournament i would have to join, like is there a separate competition for Secondary school students or do we have to come along to the normal ones that occur!

Normal ones, Tho you enter into a category of teenage men for NZFBB (under 18) or Secondary schools for NABBA which i think you just have to provide your school i.d

Where are you from? You need to find out when the next shows are closest to you and then you can start getting ready for it

Dilsdeluxeo I suggest going along to a NZFBB show first then attend a NABBA show then you can decide on which federation you want to compete in.The next NZFBB show in the Auckland area is the Sonny Schmidt show which going to be held on September 6th and for NABBA there is the NABBA North harbour show on November 1st.

Yeah - come along to the NZFBB Sonny Schmidt Classic on Sept 6 ... there are usually 2 or 3 Teenage competitors at this show.

As well as that show and the NABBA North Harbour show, you can also check out the NABBA Nationals in Auckland on Oct 25 - or the NZFBB Coromandel Classic on the same day.

Just do Nabba its better for a first show

that means easier as long as Big J doesn't show up in it eh, really it is probably best to aim for a smaller show initially, like nth harbour or Coromandal, so you get the experience. regardless of whether its NZFBB or NABBA you can never tell who is going to show up on the day and make it easy or hard competition wise...but either way come along and watch, and have a go even if it's only once, you can then always say "you did" and not "you could"

Just out of interest, Big_J - did you turn 18 last year or earlier this year? If it was this year then you can still compete as a Teenage competitor in NZFBB events until Dec 31 this year even though you are already 18. The old IFBB regulation meant you did not qualify once you turned 18.

Perhaps doing bodybuilding seminars for senior school kids (15-17 years old) might be a good way to get more young blood into the sport? Also offering discounted event tickets to schools to get more young people along to see shows?

I might raise this at our NZFBB Exec meeting on Sunday?
