Yes, NZMM - it is an excellent gym. I've been training there for the past 2 months and it has a lot going for it.

I hope to see plenty of you nzbb-ers from the lower half of the North Island at the seminar - it will provide a very interesting insight into each organisation (NZFBB, NABBA and INBA) and highlight many of the differences between them.

I'm particularly interested to hear what the judges from each organisation look for in the various classes.

And there I was thinking I was the biggest and baddest dude going to that gym...

Well, mate - I'm not in your league in either category, so if anyone is gonna be bigger or badder than you, it's not me! I'll take the Balder and Older categories! :pfft:

Hope one is coming to Dunedin.

It's probably not likely, Gym rat, as unfortunately neither organisation has a representative down your way.

The NZFBB did run events in Dunedin until about 3 or 4 years ago, but our event organiser down there moved on after going a great job, and there was no one to take over running what was becoming an increasingly difficult show to justify due to low competitor numbers and high expenses.

We (NZFBB) will always consider new locations for shows, as long as there is someone in that area to run the event plus other factors like cost, expected competitor numbers, timing with other shows etc.

That's a great idea, Gym rat. After the seminar I will create a topic which lists the information given at the seminar, and invite feedback and suggestions so that I can eventually publish a detailed document/booklet on all aspects of bodybuilding event competition preparation.

It wouldn't get into general and complex topics like training/nutrition/supplementation, but more into specifics like class selection, posing tips, lists of do's and don'ts on event day, registration requirements etc.

Hi all

It'll be great to see both NZFBB and NABBA competitors, potential competitors etc there. The NABBA Wellington Committee are working hard to increase the profile of body-building within Wellington, regardless of which federation athletes choose to compete in. So bring all your questions etc for both the officials, judges and range of competitors with experience that will be there.

There will be information hand outs on the day, and between Terry and myself I'm sure we can look at putting together some further information booklets for availability to athletes covering topics etc of interest. Hey Terry we could even do a "joint quarterly newsletter" - wouldn't that be "working together"!! :D

Seriously, this day is for the athletes, no hidden agendas on either part (NABBA or NZFBB). We are both passionate about getting a good vibe going in Wellington for body building as sport, and hopefully along the way increasing athlete numbers. It's good to see a level interest in this, and in the future we can look at running this type of event annually.

I'm really looking forward to this Sunday's seminar. Yes, Inyan - a combined newsletter is a very good idea, as is making the seminar an annual event.

One thing I am keen to find out from those attending (both competitors and officials) are suggestions for changes to the calendar of events for both organisations i.e. the number of shows, plus where and when they are held. It seems a lot of the early (i.e. pre-June) events are consistently small in numbers and some might be better held later in the year?

Hi folks

Thanks to all of those that turned out today for the Wellington Bodybuilding Seminar. We were lucky to have the NABBA NZ Secretary and President there as well as officials from NZFBB.

It was great to see some familiar faces with a few international and national level athletes present, as well as lots of new faces!! :D

If you would like a copy of the handouts for seminar please email Maebh (Maeve) and she'll happily send out the seminar information with explanatory notes, as well as the NABBA Wellington Show info.

maebh.agnew@publictrust.co.nz

Terry has copies of the NZFBB Nationals information which he'll happy to email through. Terry.hills@xtra.co.nz

The aim is to continue with these seminars each year, so watch this space.

Attached a few photos from the day.

Inyan

Thanks, Inyan - it was great to do the presentation with you this afternoon!

It's always nice to see a good turnout like we had today - especially to see several people who have yet to compete coming along for information and inspiration. Hopefully we haven't frightened too many off the idea of getting on stage! :D

Yes, some VERY experienced competitors there also today, including a Mr Universe champion, an IFBB Pro and a Mr NZ NABBA Overall Open Champion.
