Heya My name is Liz, im 34 and previously really unfit.

Now im fairly fit, i do running and cycling and love to do a little weights.

Ive been told im a natural for the weight lifting so thinking about doing it seriously.

Currently im a smidgin under 75kg, 5'6", and "apparently" 10% bodyfat. Though i do have my doubts about that, its hard to tell because i have a fair bit of excess skin (i used to be 150kg of fat).

Im a computer programmer, Linux, and general computer geek.

Anyway, im just here to butt my nose in and get some tips etc :)

Better than having your nose in butt no doubt! I did wonder when I first saw the line, actually reading it did provide some insight.

Welcome to the forums Liz,

Look forward to see how things end up going.

Welcome, Liz - nice to another computer geek on board!

I've only dabbled in Linux, but most of my nearly 30 years of software design & development has been in COBOL, Algol, C+, Pascal, Fortran, VB, Assembler blah blah blah ...

The dying languages/legacy systems but also highly sort after skills.

I had this conversation with someone here not so long ago. He was amazed that so many bodybuilders were nerds. I think bodybuilding attracts more nerds than any other sports (with the possible exception of chess!) because they like the science of it.

Anyway, good to have you here, Liz. :)

Took about a year for the first 60kg of it, and the last 15-20ish kg over the last year, i still have about 7-10 id like to have gone. No idea what my ideal weight will be , but ill know it when i get there. I took a break for about 6 months

to be honest i read enough to make me dangerous and ate 600 calories then exercised 600 calories off in the first 2 days, realized that couldnt possibly be the only way to do it and discovered BMR etc and eating better.

Then discovered i needed to maintain protein so modified the iet ... kinda went like that a lot as i got more advice from more knowing people. What works best for me is cutting all starches, wheats, milk etc and just sticking with "pure" foods. Pretty much steak and vegetables breakfast lunch and tea.

So about 1200-1500 calories a day of which most of that is protien and veges to fill up and snack on.

Then took a break for 6 months and started eating breads and cake again and ended up going a lil crazy after cycling season finished and regained 5kg, which im not just whittling off again.

Its off season for me as im really into my cycling, hence why i went off the diet thing for 6 months during training season as i needed every calorie i could get.

I'm really into my cycling

No kidding - it's not like the alias gives anything away! I like my cycling too...I'm not fast, but at least I'm consistent  and when I'm grinding away on my windtrainer I can at least pretend I'm climbing the Col D'Aubisque!
