Sorry!

Can anyone work this out??

3 MEN GO INTO A HOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS £30.00 SO

EACH MAN PAID £10.00 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY £25.00

SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH £5.00

ON THE WAY THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT £5.00 EVENLY

BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A £1.00 AND KEPT THE OTHER £2.00 FOR

HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID £9.00 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL

OF £27.00, ADD THE £2.00 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = £29.00

WHERE IS THE OTHER POUND?

That is weird???

If you use addition: 25 + Bellboy 2 = 27

27 + guys 3 = 30

If you use subtraction 30 - bellboy 2 = 28

28 - guys 3 = 25

But as soon as you use multiplication it doesn't make sense??

This is too much for my small brain! I now have a headache!

Google comes up with a variety of sites for answers. It appears there is no "right" answer. Pick one from the many submitted.

She actually charged $27 for the room ($25 plus the 2 dollars she kept). This left $3 from the original $30 which she returned to the men.

Its 25 pound for the room, the bellboy takes 5 pound to the men. There are 3 men and they get 1 pound each.

So that is 25 + 3 = 28 and the belboy takes the extra 2 pound.

The men ended up paying 9.3333333333333 pound each for the room!!

How do the men end up paying 9.3333... each if they each paid 10 pounds and then received a one pound ea refund?

Its just the wording that makes it the riddle it is in the first place. Got it sent in an email to me this morning. This is one explanation.

Once the man behind the desk realized it was $25 its actually is 3/25 which is 8.33... well...

8.33 x 3 = 25

25+3 (1 dollar times 3 men)=28

28+2(that the bellboy kept)= 30
