Aiming For Strength

Have been looking at the forum and giving 2 cents for about two weeks, after reading afew training journals and seeing some of the weight you guys are shifting I know you could help me out.

Im 27 and aiming on getting alot stronger, I currently weigh 80kg.

I workout 6 days a week and here are some of my stats:

Bench (Don't really do due to bad shoulders) 100kg

D/B Press 45kg for 6

Dips b/w + 29kg D/B for 6

Bent over row 120kg for 6

Wide pull ups b/w + 15kg for 4

Squat 120kg (crease below hip) for 4

Deadlift 150kg for 1

I would like advice on training especially legs!!

Don't really want to put on much more weight = 85kg max.

What would you guys suggest???

Get onto a decent strength routine which emphasises the squat and deadlift. Plenty out there; starting strength (don't let the name deceive you), 5x5, a westside based routine, or something Russian (e.g. Sheiko). My suggestion is if you haven't done a heck of a lot of squat/DL is to do one of the first two.

Im guessing these are books? Would I find them on amazon?

Which would you reccomend?

Starting Strength (don't be put off by the size of it, scroll down a bit for the routine then read more as the need arises): http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=998224

5x5 (download the excel and plug maxes in) : http://www.geocities.com/elitemadcow1/5 ... ar_5x5.htm

For westside there is no set routine (it's more a style of training). But it's probably better you get really good at the basic movement before delving into it.

edit: I don't know which would be suit you, but probably doesn't matter a lot. More squatting and deadlifting (at good rep ranges) is mostly what you need.

Hey SW,

Like the SS & MZ said Starting Strength is a good place to start. Just stick to a simple basic workout, it is all about time under the bar.

When your technique and knowledge of your own strengths and weaknesses is better then change your workout.
