Need a good book!

I am wanting to buy a good book about nutrition,

I want it to involve macro nutrients and how they work within the body, what they do etc.

Related to physical performance I suppose,

Basically want a book about how carbs fat and proteins work work within the body, as well as anything else of interest, micro nutrients, metabolism or whatever.

I've done plenty of reading on the net, but would like my own book to read and refer to, from a respected reliable source. As published books are usually better than net bs.

So; I'm look for recommendations of good authors or titles

Try a torrent site.

It depends on your science background. Any undergraduate book will probably do you just fine. Marieb's book Flex posted is a nice one. There are many others just like it e.g. Tortora and the like. You can find them on TradeMe as students will be selling them off after they finish a course. It covers basics of metabolism of PRO/CHO/FAT ect but may not necessarily dwell into changes in metabolism under different exercise conditions (like exercise physiology books). Of course you could get a book that solely focuses on nutrition and metabolism during exercise.

For graduate, this book is good but will require deeper understanding:

Wow thanks for all the advice, having trouble taking it all in, going to take a while to work my way through all those options properly.

I actually never thought of getting a text book as such, but thought something a little bit more general might be in order- but then I suppose that wouldn't be in depth enough.

Anything I'm likely to be able to pick up from Whitcoulls or something :o?

Something that might be just below Uni level, but definitly higher than general public standards.
