Diuretics ??????

Straight forward question really, just trying to find the best one possible for my next comp. SO..................................................................What does everybody use for pre-comp diuretic?

Are we talking herbal diuretics or chemical? Huge difference, pretty much can't OD on herbs but you can kill yourself real quick on Lasix if you don't know what your doing.

I agree with Iron Game on this one. Pescription diuretics are some of the most dangerous and unpredictble drugs available to bodybuilders.

Because of the previous deaths of several IFBB pro's , prescription diuretics are the only drugs they test for at the Olympia.The risks are that serious if they are abused.

Think risk/reward, is the show/look you are aiming for worth the risk?

Have you got every once of bodyfat you can get rid of off already (because they won't help you if you haven't done your homework and gotten rid of all the fat).

If your going to use them IMO (and admittedly my comp experience is limited to 2 shows, so their are plenty of guys/girls better qualified to talk to you about them on this site), do your body a favour and start on over the counter herbals with potassium sparing characteristics, see how they go for you and make you feel. If they do the trick, cool stick to them, if they make you look and feel worse i'd avoid them and drop your water naturally. If its your first show, the odds are that you wont get it right the first time, but make note of what you did/used and make the changes as required next time. If you do get it right, then you have got a blueprint for how you prepare in the future.

My first show iI used herbals and look flat/tired. My second I didn't(just reduced my water, kept taken thermos and had 2 red wines the night befoer and I looked and felt alot better). Thats just what I experienced and everyones different.

To be honest with you the best non "drug" way to lose water in my opinion is to drink a shit load of it right up till the show, well maby stop an hour or so out so you don't need to urinate while your trying to pose. Drop out salt a few days before( no loading sodium bullshit) and most importantly get lean enough.

If competing Saturday............ de carb from Tuesday to Thursday, take one amazide lunch time Thursday, one before bed and one when i wake Friday. By this time I'm pretty dry. Then ill start pumping the carbs in early friday morning....... say 10am (I only carb up when dehydrated). Will only sip water while carbing up meaning Friday and Saturday morning. going on how i look i mite take another amizide Friday night or Saturday morning.

You can't pose when your cramping up. so you gotta find the line. dry as you can with out cramping?? I just go on how i feel :D

Cheers for your responses everybody. Thinking I'll stick to the herbals and just ensure I'm correctly dehydrated.

Has anybody tried this stuff http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/san/shred.html

and also if your going to stick to the herbals what sort of key ingredients work best? (assuming the standards are green tea and dandelion extract)

Personally I don't use diuretics ever.

I'm a big fan of water manipulation and use of Span K. But the learning process is constantly a work in progress.

As mentioned earlier, if your not lean enough to begin with, it makes no difference whatever you do.

As a side note to the uninitiated span K (high dose potassium) can kill you just as quick as diuretics can, mikek obveously knows his shit and uses it in a safe mannor but just as a warning to any 1st timers.

I was asked on Tuesday by a girl (not my client; first time competitor) what diuretics to take as she was "holding water". It was only Tuesday and her trainer has her dehydrating already with no salts..... I'll be interested to see if she can walk, let alone pose on Saturday.

I did give her some advice, but it damn annoys me when this sort of thing pops up. Fingers crossed she'll do okay, and finish the comp on a positive note!

It's amazing how many people who aren't in shape yet are mysteriously all of a sudden "holding water".

Is it there PT making excuses for getting it wrong, or their own excuse for not dieting hard enough?

dehydrating on tuesday,

ripped on wednesday,

flat on thursday,

dead on Friday,

REALLY DRY and HARD on saturday - Priceless \:D/
