Need to buy cheap weight plates!!

Hey i just bought a bench press for my home, but i dont have a bar or some weight plates! im mainly looking for some second hand weights coz i cant afford new. does any one have any suggestions?

Use concrete, in a mold so they'll fit.

Second hand weights are the same as new ones. They are not like a car or clothes that wear out. They do not deteriorate, so there is no benefit in trying to buy "old" ones. If you do a NZ internet search you will find them for sale for prices ranging from $2.80 to $4.20 per kg. That is a pretty inexpensive price for keeping your health and fitness up!

I don't think that was what he was worried about - he was more concerned with the price.

I disagree - if you want to buy 20kg plates for each side, according to your cheapest analyst that works out to be $112. Obviously you would want more than just that though, so you could be looking at $300+ for a cheap set.

The Forrest Hill branch of Just Workout (same owner) just upgraded all their plates to rubber coated and are selling the old olympic ones (in great nic) for $2 per kg.

I agree, some good deals on trademe if you keep a lookout, you just gotta sort through all the commercial sellers to find the second hand stuff.
