Arnold still wearing his Pumping Iron posing trunks

Well, perhaps not the exact same ones. Still, he's in shape still, no gut and his arms are still big.

I wonder if he's starting to get back in shape for the movies again now he's announced that he'll be leaving politics.

Nah, it's a new photo, it was posted up on some arnold fan site. But you're right, he really has to get rid of that white hair on his chest.

And yeah, he said on Leno a couple of months ago that he was getting out of politics after his current term.

"I have no interest in a political career." The oak then added "I see myself as a public servant...we had a recall election and I jumped in there, stopped my acting career... I had a vision that I could work and improve California, and that's exactly what we've done. I want to finish my term, and I'm absolutely convinced that if I do a great job, just like you, that we will always get a job after that."

yes! maybe we can get that barbarian sequal now!

That's exactly what I'm hoping for - "King Conan", he'd be playing an older Conan so it wouldn't be too ridiculous, and I bet he'd get pretty massive again for the role.

I'd love to see a big budget "King Conan" with Arnie as well, but only if it was directed by either John Milius(Conan The Barbarian) or James Cameron(Terminator 1 and 2, Aliens etc) as these guys really inderstand how to do Sci-Fi/Fantasy.

John Milius would be great as the first Conan was an epic movie IMO. The second(directed by someone else) just didnt stack up in comparison.

I agree Mr Natural, It was too comedic and wasn't nearly bloody enough!!!(an essential component in fantasy/sword and sandal epics).

The first film had some comedy but it was in essence a serious, strong story.

With a good script, direction and todays special effects, the third would have the potential to be awesome, but it would have to be R Rated IMO. Ive noticed that when film studios lower the ratings of successful action films to get more bums on seats in cinemas, the films really suffer. (think Predator(great movie, R Rated) versus Alien v Predator(very poor movie/ M Rated).

This seems to happen alot!

I figured by your music and outfit at the Nth Harbour that you must be a longtime Conan/Arnie fan MR Natural! Thats all good!

I miss those unique Arnie issims too!

Damn it's been too long since he's been on the big screen!

It's sounds childish but I miss the eighties action flicks alot and so do many of my friends,we grew up on them! You know, big, dumb action movies that werent pretending to be anything else, weren't PC, just 90 minutes of entertainment and escapism.

Some of his flicks still stack up really well today e.g The first time I saw Predator I was blown away and I still think it's a great movie.

I think seeing Arnie's films would have influenced at least half of the people on this sight to take up training and I don't think i'd have a job in the fitness industry if it wasn't for him and Stallone etc, as they really did popularise the fitness craze in the eighties. They inspired people to get and stay in shape through weight training.

yeah arnie and sly had the action muscle gig pretty much tied up,jean claude had his moments too.

yes preditor would have to be my second favorate arnie movie.

problem is there not really any really good believable muscle action stars doing movies these days, i don't really think much of the rock. i saw stone cold steve austin in a movie the other day and thought the movie was not that great but he was a pretty decent action/muscle star that had a believable serious persona

Yeah I agree there aren't many built guys doing the action gig anymore. A few bulk up for roles (Christian Bale etc) but then down size.

The perception is that being in great shape/ big is not credible for a serious actor, which is a shame.

Funny you should mention T4 not being all that far away, the teaser trailer is being shown before the new Batman movie (in the US at least). Here it is for those of you haven't seen it. There's also a single frame of a terminator if you don't blink. Check the screenshot at the bottom of the post, looks pretty cool.

Obviously Arnold will be too late for this movie, but there are two after this one, so surely he has to be in them.

Oh, and Red Sonja of all the Arnold movies, has a remake that's just been given the greenlight. Robert Rodriguez producing (not directing), and he's cast his girlfriend Rose McGowan as Sonja. No idea who would play Arnold's character, but no doubt they will be a disappointment.

IMO Red Sonja wasn't one of his best, unfortunately they tried to combine action and comedy(with the little prince and his bodyguard).

It was one of Arnie's lower grossing films also and originally he was supposed to be playing Conan in it and at the last minute his character was changed to Kaledor(thankfully).

I'd much rather see a studio do a King Conan rather than a remake of one of his poorer films IMO, not to say that a remake won't be any good though.

Samoan Muscle, the only thing is, if Arnie retires is who will replace him. Today's action stars are all regular looking/fit looking guys like Matt Damon and Daniel Craig which is ok but thats what made Arnie/Stallone/Van Damme different.

Even if their builds weren't necassarily plausible for the roles, they were still inspirational and something that young dudes growing up with those films would aspire to.
