blairandkelly are your prices adjusted for the exchange rate?

no , when you earn and spend in the same economy its irrelevant "to me" but when you consider im on $12 an hour more over here im streaks ahead, shit bloody roast porks on sale with a coupon today $1.99 kilo , big population booming economy they can afford to shave the prices and still make good. also no gst on many unprocessed foods like peanuts are gst free but salted/sweetened/roasted ones have gst attached , chocolate has gst , milk and bread dont , that sorta thing .

why is "to me" is quotation marks?

and isnt milk and bread processed? so its government subsidies which is why they dont have gst, not becasue they are an unprocesssed food like peanuts

@small because that's my opinion , why would i want to compare exchange rates ? did i misinterpret your post ? 2guns yip gst on choc milk . most basic food is exempt ,

heres some stuff off the ato site

* fruit and vegetables

* meat

* eggs

* bread

* cheese

* soup

* milk, tea, coffee, fruit and vegetable juices (with 90% minimum by volume of juice)

* breakfast cereals

* flour

* infant formula, and

* sugar.

when any of the above are prepared or cooked then gst is added

like egg whites and sugar make a pavlova , same with cakes bakery type foods pizza etc
