Hi guys,

I am a newbie to this site and to the gym. I am wanting to go the proper way and from my research I see that diet is very important?

Would you be able to recommend a good nutritionist in AKL area?

Or should I not worry about this in the beggining?

Thx everyone.

M.J.

If you have the cash to do so, then go for it

You could always do the old skool way of trial and error, but having someone there who's helped others in the same boat as you could save you alot of time and money (and heartache when things don't work!) in the long run imo.

It really depends on how serious you are and what your goals are. You'd probably be better off just going into a sports nutrition store and talking to someone there for basic nutrition advice.

Do the basics:

- keep a food and training diary,

- eat at least 6 meals a day eating every 2-3 hours, protein in all of them, carbs in most of them and essential fats and oils in 3 or 4 of them

- minimum 2g protein/kg bodyweight each day,

- whey protein after training,

- perhaps some creatine monohydrate for strength,

- 3-5 days training per week,

- 8 hours sleep each day,

- lay off the turps and get 12 months of training under your belt and see how you go.

Then depending how you've done you can look at paying a nutritionist, or just invest in a few good books or ebooks.

 That's what I did. I found someone in a sports nutrition store who I thought sounded like they had done the research and actually knew what they were talking about, rather than parrotting the usual sales pitch. Then I hung around and asked questions until they were sick of me.

yeah and if you read a lot of forums you get a pretty good idea

If you go to http://www.t-mag.com you will find a whole section of articles pertaining to diet and nutrition for building a better, bigger, stronger or leaner body. It's a good starting point and it's written by qualified people (some are top nutritionist in the states). If that does'nt give you an idea what to do then nothing will.

Happy reading

so r we kissing arse here by trying to sell the ppl who we go and see for nutriton or are we helping this guy to decide if he needs to c one or not?

I don't sell-I endorse, if someone helps me achieve success, and I think they are worth promoting....I do so at no benefit to me, other than to hope that others enjoy the same success.

Hi guys,

Would you be able to recommend a good nutritionist in AKL area?

And he was asking for a recommendation.
