Moving to Christchurch, need to find a good gym?

SM, from my understanding of the rule, if you palce first in your class you have the remainder of that year to compete in that class. e.g I won the Nov Athletic Tall so I qualify as a Novice for this years Nationals in October, but after that I will be considered an Open competitor because I placed first in my regional event.

or is it if u place at the nationals? (am not sure)

2 Guns,I think it applies if you place top three in Nationals or if you win a Regional Qualifier.

Looking at the Open Athletic Division, it's pretty competitive with Tom Wojick and Richard Parnham being the two top guys in it at the moment.

I'm several/many years away from being able to share a stage with those two and not look out of place IMO, but i'll still compete next year as an Open Competitor, because that calibre of athlete is not at every show and it's all good experience.

I'm thinking about buying a Power Rack with a chin bar to go with my Smiths Machine, so if I can't get to the Gym in Christchurch as much as I like, I can still train from where i'm staying. Not ideal but where there is a will there is a way.I'd probably just then get a 6$ per week membership to Criton to train legs(leg press/hack Squat).

I'm not so sure...

I believe that the rules are that you have to place at the Nationals when competing in the novice class to have to compete in the open the next year.

SM, The way I interpret that is, because I won the Counties in my class, I will be an Open cometitor as of the first qualifer for the 2009 season.(Nth Harbour).

I'm pretty sure thats the way it is because Thomas Rapana who won the NABBA Hawkes Bay NOV Physique, also won the Counties Manukau NABBA Nov Physique(and overall) several weeks later. He is able to still compete as a novice at the Nationals and until the 2009 season starts whereby he will be classified as an Open competitor. I think thats the same for me.

Thanks 2Guns, just got your reply. thats what I thought.

no coz u have never won a regional show and u have never placed at nationals

LMFAO!!!!!! :pfft: :pfft:

Then youre contradicting yourself.

Providing matrix places at the nationals this year, he will have to move to open next year. If he doesnt place, then he remains a novice, regardless of the fact that he won his class at the Counties show...Is that right?

Check out the Rolleston Community Centre gym though. I think its cheaper than that and they have the standard gear which will take care of your legs - and its a walk to from anywhere in Rolleston.

no thats wrong bro! u anrnt a novice the following yer if

a) u have won yr novice class at a regional show

or

b) placed in yr novice class at the national that year.

u have never done either, althought matrix won his class at the counties so therfore he will be open next year.... unless there is some rule which says its not counted if there is less than a certain numebr of cmopetitors in yr class....

No SM, not right (did you not sleep well last night?)

As Matrix won (1st place) he will no longer be Novice next year. If he had place 2nd or 3rd he would still have the luxury of being Novice next year..unless he placed in top 3 at Nationals, which would THEN mean he would have to move into Open.

Regionals - have to place 1st in class to move into open

Nationals - any top 3 placing have to move into open.

K?

That's what I thought Flamer, thanks. It's looks as though we will both be taking the plunge into the Open Division next year.

Congraulations on your win by the way, your back and leg development looked great! Well Done!

SM, That means by the current rules, your next competition would be as an Open Physique competitor.

I think my old training partner, Harry, placed second to you in that show(if you were in Nov. Physique). He was the guy with the corn rows and goatee(caucasion).

Im pretty keen to give open a crack this year...besides I wouldnt want to do well in the novice class and then be stripped because of the technicalities...

Im sure one of the judges will remember me anyway...I accidently spat on one of them when I exhaled whilst striking my ab/thigh pose lmao!:lol::lol:
