Wellington Body Building Seminar August

NABBA

Recommended Posts

Hi

The Wellington NABBA Committee are looking at running a Bodybuilding seminar in August. The aim of the seminar will be to have for an open and frank discussion about improving Bodybuilding within the Wellington Community.

Wellington NABBA are interested in increasing our numbers of competitors for all our shows, but in particular our regional show in Wellington on 4th October. This show is 2 weeks after the NZFBB nats from memory, also being held in Wellington.

We'd like to keep the seminar neutral - ie not a NABBA vs NZFBB thing, more a encouraging day, providing those athletes who may only compete NZFBB or newer athletes not aware of what competitions and federations are all about to come along and learn from competitors, judges, officials and alike.

I'm after an indication of interest from those athletes within the Wellington Region. Is this something you would like to see organized? We'd be looking a using a local gym as venue and asking experts within the field of Bodybuilding to come along and be part of the "panel" answering questions from athletes.

thoughts appreciated. :D:D

Tremendous idea, Inyan ... but you and I have already been talking about this via email over the past month or so.

I'm actually planning to hold a seminar in August to assist those competitors aiming to compete at the NZFBB Masterton show on September 27. This will be a follow up to the one being run in Masterton on July 27, but more for what I expect to be a lot of local competitors aiming to do this show as a qualifier for the Nationals in Wellington on Oct 18 - two weeks AFTER the NABBA Wellington show (not before as you indicated in your post).

I'm all for running a combined seminar to suit all competitors looking to compete in any of these three events during Sept and Oct. I have always kept the seminars open to any competitor, regardless of who they want to compete with ... although obviously some of the content (like class selection) is specific to NZFBB events.

I reckon a number of people may look at competing for both NABBA and NZFBB later this year, especially as these 3 events are only 3 weeks apart.

A combined seminar would surely benefit both organisations - apart from sharing ideas it might also boost competitor numbers for both NABBA and NZFBB?

It's great that you are interested in a combined seminar Terry, as after all it's about the sport and promoting that within Wellington rather than fed vs fed. So we are more than happy to work with you on a combined seminar in August probably with Wellington as the venue, more than Masterton, so that we can get some local experts along to talk. I know a few from both feds that are keen.

Thanks also for the date correction, either way with the shows so close together this year, it makes sense for athletes in reasonable condition to hold that for one more show. The NABBA entry and yearly fees aren't too bad either with membership at $40 and entry at $20. I know NZFBB have the rule of having to re-apply for membership if you do a NABBA show. I don't necessarily agree with it, but rules are rules.

Yes, classes are slightly different, for example shape vs body fitness, and even figure criteria can differ, and NZFBB have some rules around posing options, but if a panel is made up of athletes from both sides, it can give newbees etc a indication of what to expect whichever show they choose to do.

Agreed, perhaps we can drum up some interest on this board, and then look at some promo externally.

As an aside the Wellington NABBA show is gearing up to be a good event. Several key sponsors have come on board, with spot prizes etc for audience members so it should be a fun show. 4th October, Vic University, Wellington.
