Bodybuilders are ignorant!

step back and see it from the veiw point of the average person in the street if you can do that you may understand my post.

at the end of the day whether bodybuilding is seen as being cool or not by the general public is completly irrelevant because it does not have any effect on who you are or how you live. I simply tried to present a theory as to why bodybuilding is not accepted by the general public I still stand by this theory. When I refer to bodybuilders in my post I am refering to professionals and the people that represent it in the media because these are the people that most average people would be exposed to. I'm not refering to amatuer or recreational bodybuilders. but any way. Do you want to be happy? heres the first step. don't get pissed off that people who aren't you happen to think bodybuilders are stupid.

yes "being cool" as you put it refers to what other people think of body builders and you may have a point that the extreme pro body builders may freak the average joe public people out, i i for one do not really care if people think the life style and the sport is not"cool" i think most b/b did not get into it because they wanted to be cool. i personaly do it cause i like it and i like the results.normaly only young people care about being "cool" or not. so those doing it to be cool probably won't do very well at it cause thats not a good motivation.

I am not too sure what you mean either Wynton

ok i'll try explain this again. bear with me.

what i mean in the last post is that it doesn't matter if people think bodybuilders are stupid which is what the original poster stated because it's just someone elses perception or opinion so doesn't really effect him or his life at all so why worry about it.

"don't get pissed off that people who aren't you happen to think bodybuilders are stupid." this was mainly directed at the orginal poster.

as for my first post all that is, is my theory as to why bodybuilding is not looked favourably apon by the general public. If you looked at other sub cultures that have emerged and gained a large following and sometimes disappeared again they have certain characteristics in common one being a certain amount of coolness

I dont think there are many people who do bodybuilding to be cool.

yes people may not do bodybuilding to be cool most people do things because they actually enjoy them. However when a bodybuilder lifts weights and gets bigger and in their mind they look better and feel better inherently this makes them feel cool. This is true for all people they just try to achieve the same thing in a different way.

Agreed ... In my experience most people are really interested in what it's about. I have used my size as an ice breaker for years.

IMO you're not bodybuilding or a body builder until you have crossed the stage. (you may be doing a body building program but the sport is won and lost on a stage - -- -- anyone can do the training but few actually make the stage).

recreational bodybuilders.
I'd call that a weight trainer or a gym member!

my last post got deleted, but dude u sound like a knob

Why 2guns?

I was simply answering the question, and telling how it is for me.

Why do you have to try and demoralize every actual chance of any sort of decent conversation that goes on in the forums.

Frankly I think you and you Mate Samoan_mouse ruin this site and I for one am sick of wading through your guys constant BS.

And watching you two ridicule anyone who decides to take a leap and be real.

And gee,..I wonder why people dont hang around long :? :? :?

The question was asked and so I told it how it was from my point of view as a lifter.

As for Samoan_mouses comment about my video, thats fine and your welcome to your opinion. But those lifts are lite and for watching form, But you more then welcome to try me on, you'll only end up on the floor swearing at me to let go, like all the others like you and before you did.

Your the exact type I was referring to in my post.

So in answer to your thread Question Musclehead "why do people think Bodybuilders are arrogant?"

Answer 2guns and Samoan_muscle

no offence mikey but i don't think your form is that great on those deads to be perfectly honest with you.

at that weight your back should be alot more netural and you should have a bit more movement though the legs.

Not trying to blow your ego or have a go but its not a pitcularly big lift either.

IMO.

Its kinda worse for me becos Im a Security Gaurd and Im stocky, people automatically think Im dumb, guys who are arrogant muscle heads all try to size me up along with the newbe lifters and wonna be thugs.

Of course they all talk "Smack", but they never follow though cos they know they will get a "Smack". LOL In my profession and Ive ben doing it for years I have learnt that guys who talk smack most of the time are trying very hard to cover inferiorities and low self esteem problems.(losers basiclly)

But people are surprised wen they talk to me and find I actually know a thing or two and can hold a interesting conversation. They find out that Im really a nice guy, and Im also a Christian.

My size and strength comes in really handy as a deterrent to most dicks. they see me and decide not to go a head with wot they were about to do, and that has been proven so many times when I have been hired and replace smaller guys, shop theft as pretty much gone from Bad to non existent.

If im bouncing I can take down and detain alot off guys my size and much bigger, becos Im a strength builder I am strong and I like it that way. I have good muscle size as a side effect too my chosen sport, so I look big in my uniform. But hell man I have worked damn hard for it and it costs me a fortune. But I dont preach nuthin to no one, I just live and want to help people.

ok maybe calling u a knob was a little harsh but your post is just a joke! i just think u got a wee bit carried away with the key board and yr story of a lifetine. seriously wat relavance does "If im bouncing I can take down and detain alot off guys my size and much bigger, becos Im a strength builder I am strong and I like it that way." have to do anything or "I look big in my uniform" .... (btw, is it true ladies love a man in uniform? :pfft: )

anyway iv got an insight into yr life now, thank you. and we've had a laugh (well i have) so lets just move on ok..

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here and agree with Wynton.

Some of my friends think bodybuilding's a mock 'cos:

1. They've seen some of Ronnie's DVDs, and yeahh.. he's fcuken strong, but then he starts screamin, "Yeaahhhh bebeee" and "lightweight!!" like Michael Jackson.

and

2. Wearing "undies" onstage, getting oiled/tanned up, standing next to other dudes in their undies and being compared.. they think its a little ghey.

I can try and tell them that local comps are way different to the ones they see on youtube or any other media.. but they don't "get it" until they watch an actual local comp.

For you guys that compete.. when people at the gym ask you what you're training for.. do you tell them that you're training for a bodybuilding show? Or do you just give a generic answer, like "to get bigger" or whatever ?

It has everything to do with my Job, my training has everything to do with my Job.

The point is people see me and they are narrow minded and think one way, but they dont consider how my size and training helps me out with my everyday work.

What I was saying is that if they actually talk to me they find Im quit the opposite.

The smack talkers I was reffering to are people who think my main proirity in life is too try and look tuff and be a wannabe toy cop etc. They dont even take into account I am a Father, struggling and trying my best like everyone else.

ok fair enough your a big dude but your not that strong compared to other people on here, so maybe just tone it down a little on saying things like

"But you more then welcome to try me on, you'll only end up on the floor swearing at me to let go, like all the others like you and before you did"

samoan muscle still has 20 kgs on you .... just saying man dont get too big headed.

Hell! If people actually saw me as a weight trainer or gym member at the gym , then maybe they wouldnt ask me from week to week....(yes and its true)....Do you compete!? Will you be entering in the up coming comp? When I give them the anwser as NO...I dont compete, then the reply is ...this coming from other guys and gals who have actually competed look at me weirdly and say then why do you train to that level?...Im thinking..what level?...There's a level?...what the hell are you on about?....

Another reply is....bro...you would blow the comp away easily in the under 90kg class and seriously make those guys who compete in that class think again about their training! :pfft: :pfft:

To be honest, Im only ignorent of my results from training I guess....
