ok fair enough your a big dude but your not that strong compared to other people on here, so maybe just tone it down a little on saying things like

"But you more then welcome to try me on, you'll only end up on the floor swearing at me to let go, like all the others like you and before you did"

Samoan muscle still has 20 kgs on you .... just saying man dont get too big headed.

Luiji. What has size got to do with weather or not a small guy can take down a big guy?

Ive seen tiny guys demolish huge guys, becos of proper combat technique.

As for Samoan_muesli he was the first to insinuate with out provocation that he would have a go. Basically insinuating that he had watched my vid and had deducted he would have no probs against me.

So I say go for it. I dont back down from anybody who deserves it.

And if you had read the rest of thread that went before my comment you would know why I responded in that way.

Look it wasnt my intention to try and make myself out as some kind of wonnabe tuff guy.

The intention of my origanal post was to say that because of my lifting mixed with my job people often quickly judge me to be a wonna be tuff guy.

when in fact I just a normal dude like any other.

Im not a big muscly guy as Samoan_muscle has pointed out, this I know.

However when I read over the origanal post I made on page one I can see how my comments could be misconstrude for my trying to be big headed.

and the way I reacted to the critisim was childish.

So for that I apoligise.

I pretty much got on a rant, and then spent the rest of the time defending myself.

So lesson 1 learnt about posting.

I'll probably be quiet for a while and only make entrys to my journal and really hope that if any of you have any critisim that could help me in my training that you may drop in on it from time to time.

I am a pretty desent sort of a dude and really need help to better my understanding and training of my choosen sport.

Talking about bodybuilders being ignorant! I had an incident a couple of weeks ago in the gym with my training partner. This guy who is in his fifties, been going for as long as I've been there, came up to my partner and for no reason started saying that we were intimidating and that we belong to the small dick club. My partner who is of athletic build but likes to push me verbally during our workouts can be abit loud but that's just the way he is. I on the other hand don't say a bloody word, only dropping a few weights every now and then, can't help it when I'm trying to lift the 70kg dumbells. This guy really seems to have an attitude towards bodybuilders and yet 2 years ago he sponsored 1 of the samoan boys that was competing. I will encourage and talk to anyone who comes up to me wanting advice.

I agree with what you're saying bro. I don't think people view big guys as being ignorant though just the guys who look it, but alot of people get ILS (Imaginary lat syndrome) and when you got it you look like a dick.

IMO you're not bodybuilding or a body builder until you have crossed the stage. (you may be doing a body building program but the sport is won and lost on a stage - -- -- anyone can do the training but few actually make the stage).

Couldn't agree more!!

I found a lot of negative comments when I was younger, but as I've improved and put some years behind me- and especially in the last year- have had only really positive feedback. I think that when guys are younger, yes there is jealousy of a great build on and the hard work and dedication it requires to achieve.

Now days I frequently get approached in public (when they let me out) by all people young\old\male\female just wanting to say that they admire what I have achieved and think it looks great. It's pretty strange to hear, especially in NZ where people are pretty reserved with praise.

The funny part is hearing positive feedback (and getting asked for advice) from guys who used to be negative, maybe they have grown up a bit, or developed there own self confidence that my achievements in the gym don't diminish who they are. I think that there may be some who don't like it, but they keep it to themselves, and there is no problem.

I think how we conduct ourselves out there reflects on the immediate response we get, I tend to try and play down the bodybuilder aspect of me, while it is the most visually noticeable part of me, its not the measure of whether I'm a good person.

PS Tony Hawk doesn't live at home (with his mom anymore) not that that makes him cool, neither does having millions of dollars, nor PS games with his own name.....NO, being on Oprah's new tv show- THAT makes him cool

Bodybuilding means "building your body" whether you've crossed a stage or not.

That's like saying "You're not a sailor unless you've sailed a race". What a load of cack.

thought i would put five cents in now that most of the gos is out of the system. I would agree, that a lot of BB's have a stereo type of being ignorant or arrogant. but that is a stereotype and doesn't often stand true. I have met many on either side of this line. some BB's seem closed off at the gym to people who aren't as "intense"with their work outs. honestly i think that some of us can seem closed off, and this can be interperated as ignorant. So i guess all we can do to gain a better public image (if that is what you want for the sport) is put our weights away, talk and offer advice to people that don't look like the know what they are doing. col friendly stuff like that :)

Geez...I must be one of the closed off ones....but then again..I go to train..not to socialise. :pfft: Guess I gotta be more approachable.

give it a go. i can see why we may seem a bit closed off, as i don't often talk to anyone at th egym, even more so now that I'm on cut down phase.

Cut down phase is gotta be the worst time to have a chat......
