Despite all the warnings and suspensions, the smack talk continues. In fact, in the last few days it's been worse than ever.

This presents the moderating team with a problem. We don't really want to ban these guys - when they're helpful, they're very helpful. But we're going to lose other members if we don't get it under control.

So I'm posting some of the emails and PMs I've received over the last month. There are two reasons for this:

1) If you're a smack talker, we need to make you understand this rubbish is not appreciated by the rest of the community here.

2) If you're getting increasingly irritated by all the smack talk, we understand (we're pissed off too). Hang in there - one way or another, we'll get the problem sorted.

I'll just get to the point,

I'm getting sick of sifting through pages of BS in the hope of finding informative posts, or posts relating to the topic.

I've put up with it for a while but after today it really got to me, I spent far too much time looking through the new posts today which were mostly pages of shit-talk.

My only suggestion would be harder penalty's , these 48hour and 2week suspensions don't seem to be doing any good for the majority of the offenders, the message obviously isn't hitting home.

It seems a few are spoiling it for the rest and I have found myself much less active in the forum as of late for that reason.

Appreciate you putting up a warning to some of the dickheads on here taking things a bit too far. The forum hasn't been much fun to read of late.

Hey man stop locking and start banning it is the same ones every time. ... I'm not up myself and I enjoy a laugh too, but most of this stuff is just bloody silly and I can’t be bothered with it.

may I advise that I am lamenting the direction of this site as of late, it seems that little bitches want the licence to say what they want with no consequences. It's turning to a playground atmosphere … When did we stop being bodybuilders and become a knitting group?

I used to enjoy the odd mock but its become stupid. Most of the threads look interesting until you open up and 3-4 posts into it turns to shit. Just ban em, sure they can come up with other usernames but the quicker its reported and stopped the quicker they can get banned, sooner or later they will give up. 48 hours and 2 weeks does not seem to be working. KL for example. Everyone of his posts was smack talk. He should have been banned long ago.

I work from home most of the day, ill ban em and ban em good, or mod :grin:

Funnily enough, with the smack talk this board seems to be more active. It was quite dead in here at one stage.

To clean things up, either there will have to be mass bannings (which will probably affect the traffic on these forums-I wonder what the comparative posting rates are between those who complained and those involved in the smack talk?) or a separate trash talk section.

It will effect the traffic, there may be slightly less posts however what is left is informative posts and quality members.

Just the negative ones, I dont mind a little ribbing, but some of the guys on here are just nasty for the hell of it.

And maybe I shouldnt have used the word slappers. But there are some right idiots on this site who do use it as a verbal bashing ground,

I have only signed up to this site recently becos some of the members looked like they could help me with my lifting. But I have been a guest here for ages, so I may be new to you guys, you guys are not new to me.

While at the NZFBB Auck champs I had a formum member come up to me & say hi. I asked why she hadn't posted in a while and it was for this exact reason. It's a shame to lose input from anyone in the community when it relates to the same end we are trying to achieve.

I too am sick of following a post, logging on to see there have been new replies, only find it's all shit. I'm also tired of some members jumping on things that are said and mis-interpreting the or pulling the piss out of the poster. We all started somewhere, and when you shit, it stinks - just like everybody else!

I agree with Keats, who gives a f*ck about the traffic in the site when most of it at the moment is shit. Most threads are getting overdone with the smack talk. The odd comment here & there can be a good laugh but most of the stuff being posted lately isn't even funny.

yes imformation is all good,but why not just read a book or magazine or research it on the net, the point of having a forum is for interaction on topic's so your going to get personalities coming through and thats what makes it more worthwhile than just reading some text somewhere.

I think when smack talk gets out of hand then it should be dealt with quickly and that seems to be what the mods have been doing lately.

personal attacks should not be tolerated and the mod's seem to be pretty quick to deal with them now.

problem = undermoderation , giving respected (if any left) members the ability to moderate would stem the flow of crap talk imo. harden up pseudo and permanently ban a few that may help, on a side note people also need to lighten up a lil some good laughs have been had and the majority of people here are pretty decent .

How do you clarify smack talk though?

I mean every other bb site forum i have ever been on is just full of smack talk these days, in fact nzbb is mild compared to most..

I hate to say it pseudo but i think you are fighting a losing battle trying to wipe out smack talk just like all the other bb website forums are, because where do you draw the line between doing nothing, warnings, or bans.

Sure a lot of the reason to come to this website is to gain a bit of information, but there also has to be a bit of entertainment value as well, otherwise people are going to lose interest pretty quickly. Surely you don't want nzbb to stand for nzbloodyboring.....

Yes we all do it from time to time. However there are those who seem to make a habit of it. Threads are getting hijacked by 12 year olds.

It's okay to take the piss sometimes but there's a huge difference between a bit of ribbing and the non-stop "you're gay" and "I shagged yo momma last night" stuff.

NZMM, entertainment value? Did you not read the messages that were sent to admin? Apparently not everyone is amused or entertained. None of us want a sterile, boring forum, but then that's what the General section is for. There are a number of funny vids and threads there. Or go to the journal section and give the ladies hell for their peanut butter MNM addictions, or ask Luigi for more NZD tales.

There's no need to lower the tone of the whole forum to suit a handful of (it seems) pre-adolescent boys. You may make the most noise but you certainly don't speak for the majority.

Exactly and we have seen where this ends up, threats of lawsuits, and loads of PM's asking for this that and the other member to be banned. A bit of banter was fine and we alowed that but some people just kept pushing the line further and further.
