HELP!!!!FOREARM INJURY

KING LEONIDUS

Recommended Posts

Well its more of a sprain, but a few weeks back i was doin some flat barbell curls with approximately 45kgs (which isnt an ordinary weight for me) and found that quite easy.I then proceeded to 50 kgs but when i went to do my first rep i felt a pull in the leftside of my forearm. Now every time i go to do any sort of bicep curling motion i can feel a pinch in my forearm which hurts like hell!!Any rehabilitaion suggestions??

p.s if anyone (i.e Samoan_Muscle,Mr natural) want to use this thread to have a go at me,then go ahead because i really dont care.

I have problems with this in both my inner forearms, I still lift but I use strapping taking away much of the strain.

You can get elbow straps from your chemist or sports store.

Otherwise

If this has only just happened I seriously suggest, see a doc and rest it for a couple weeks, before it completely screwed.

god this forum is getting crappy with all these lame comeback and petty fights, preety pathetic for adults in my opinion.

anyways back to answering your question,i had the same problem there are called forearm splints, this si how i got rid of the pain.

first of all dont do flat barbell curls until the stop hurting ,i bet they hurt right now when you pinch your inner forearm.

switch to those EZ bar's much better grip and easier on the forearms

this is the most important when you let go of the bar let go of it one finger at a time ,trust me it make a big effin difference

massage your forearms after each set and stretch stretch them

heres how to stretch them

if it hurts too much just let it go do something else,it better than getting it injured and sitting at home getting fat for 2 months.(speaking from experience)

KL, did the curling bar you were using have fixed plates(locked with an allen key collar) or were they free moving with plastic collars?

Personally I prefer free moving with collars as fixed plates tend to torsion up your wrists and forearms as you curl the bar because the plates cant rotate.

Free moving plates (that you can load on/off yourself ) are much easier on your wrists/forearms.

Mikey6 & Vracula: I used to get this problem all the time. I found it was caused by my wrists flexing too much during curls etc. You need to make sure your wrists are parallel to your forearms when doing these types of exercises. Drop the weight if you have too and think about wrist straps. They worked for me.

Another method that works when you rack the weight maintain a tight grip on it for a few seconds before releasing. Seems to stop the pain.

I wear nike gloves with wrists supports it was still an issue, its caused more due to the grip(sudden release of the bar) then anything else hence the leave the bar one finger at a time.leaving the weights to rotate freely is a good idea as well.for some people it just goes away but for some like me it keeps happening but not anymore since i started the technique i spoke about.
