egg yokes?????

yeah, ive heard that too.

But honestly, I'll only bother cooking them in the morning if Im not in a rush.

Usually after a sleep I'll down 4-5 raw eggs either straight, with milk or porridge shake.

The rest of the day I may have a protein shakes, Bars, steak or Chicken, even the odd can of tuna.

But most of the time i drink raw eggs. Because its a constant i dont worry to much about absorption rate. but I do worry about stress on my heart if there is any, due to the cholesterol in yokes.

So Ive kinda answered my own question.

However If I dont use the yoke as well I end up using more eggs. to get the same protein content out of just whites.

Or something like that. :?

99% of protien in the egg comes from the white, you wont be missing out on any protien by discarding the yokes. Also eating them raw is pretty much a wast of time, very little of the protien is taken up, about 12% from memory.

A good diet is all about preperation and time, there aren't any easy fixes you just have to do the hard yards.

Raw is a waist of time and money your body doesn't process raw egg very well. Also flag the yokes unless you want to boost your cholesterol levels which isn't good.

If you want to get them down try 6 egg white 1 yoke mix throw it in the microwave for a bit and when its done drop a can of salmon in it (nice salmon no bones). Its a half ass eggs benedict I use when dieting.

i agree that absorbtion is increased when cooking, although dont skimp too much on the yolks, cholesterol is important in the body, especially in terms of building muscle as it is what forms hormones.

to know wether you are getting too much, you may want to take a test. the flora proactive people do free tests in malls from time to time. you might want to consider that.

ive heard its somthing like 4g in egg white and 2g in the yolk. and drinking the whole egg, white and yolk at once actually increases the absorbtion. there is a whole thread on this somewhere on the site il try and find it.

One other thing to consider Mikey6 is the risk of food poisioning. You can easily contract some pretty nasty bugs from bad eggs that will put you out of training for 3-5 days.

I've found that it doesn't actually take that long to make an egg/egg white omlette.

I seperate my whites/yolks while the pan is heating( a good teflon pan is a must), then mix them and pour them in just as the pan starts to show steam.

While my eggs are cooking (3-5minutes) I either start eating my oats or get the rest of the days food ready and into a cooler bag. It's all just about getting those good habits together and after a while it becomes second nature.

Most of the guys making big gains are really organized with their meal prep and do it consistently.

wrong, the yolk contains just under half the protein in the egg.

lol @ cronus...

99% of the protein comes from the white and around 12% comes from the yolk...nice one buddy, how did you work that one out??

You misread what Cronus said. 99% of the protein is in white. New sentence - re 12% absorbtion of eggs protein content.

Don't be so quick to judge everyone as a moron - it's wearing thin.

Im no longer convinced that cooking eggs increases protein absorbtion, cross linked proteins (such as those in cooked eggs) is notoriously hard to absorb, early humans and animals have eaten raw eggs forever! Does anyone actually know anybody that has gotten food poisening from raw eggs? I think we are at greater risk of contracting it from cooked chicken than we are from raw eggs.

And as for the cholesterol debate, there is a big difference between dietary cho and what is measured in the body. When I have clients come to me with high LDL and low HDL I get them to eat 3 poached eggs ( or raw if there hard core 8) for breakfast everyday and get there lipid profiles retested after 6 weeks and every single one of them has come back with greatly improved profiles, that is when (and not before) I tell them to tell there doctors that that is what they have in place there lipid problems, of course the doctors are at a loss but many are starting to come around.

So take it for what it is
