There are a few reasons I'm concerned about a smack talk forum.

- Regardless of any warnings/disclaimers we put on the forum, the moderators would still need to check it. To be honest, we spend enough time moderating as it is. We don't need more work - particularly when it involves wading through people talking trash.

- Bodybuilding has a poor public reputation already without showing people how immature we are. I agree we could make the forum private, but ultimately this is a bodybuilding website, and I'm not convinced trash talk is appropriate or relevant here. If bodybuilding isn't interesting enough to keep you here, then yes, you probably should move on to a site more in line with your interests. (NZ Dating is quite popular, it seems?!)

- Spillover from the smack talk forum is inevitable. People hold grudges. We've seen this already - despite a crackdown on smack talk, people still feel they have to get the last word. And they'll chase each other round the site to do it.

It's little digs and jabs, rather than full-on abuse, but each comment forms part of a wider pattern. It builds up slowly, like grime around a bath, but eventually you're left with a ring of petty, snide, snarky, nasty stuff throughout the entire site. Which brings us back to the first two points.

I'll continue to consider and consult on this, but at this stage it would take a pretty strong argument to make me change my mind.

Pseudonym , perhaps if the sillier members of this board(myself included)had a place to rant then there would be alot less of it in the other serious threads?

sure it's worth trailing for a few days and see if it works or not?i don't think we are asking for an abusive forum,just one where we can have a few laugh's and a bit of banter

hey if it doesn't work then close it down and say sorry it doesn't work. whats the harm in trying it out?
