Nabba Counties Manukau Date Change!!

Matrix

Recommended Posts

Nabba have changed the date of the Counties Manukau and brought it foward a week to July 5th(Saturday).

They have also changed the dates/locations of some of their other shows later in the year and these changes are on their website.

Anyone else competing in the Counties?

Yep, I think Nabba probably brought the show foward to get more numbers which is good, as some competitors from the NZFBB Aucklands will do both, which will make my class (ath. Tall) more competitve.

I think having a bigger class is a better way of guaging where your at, and is more entertaining for friends/family in the audience, although it makes getting a placing alot more challenging.

Yeh, did that show to, I suppose you were stuck with a choice of either competing in your age group against (usually) small numbers and well less advanced bodybuilders and cleaning up; or moving up to Nov. Physique and competing against more guys in a more competitive class.

I was real suprised by the numbers at the nth. Harbour last year as it was as big a show as the nationals numbers wise.

I definately underestimated the numbers and standard of the Athletic class, but it changes so much from show to show and you never can predict who's going to turn up.

Looking at pictures on Nabba's web site, some guys get first place in some shows who wouldn't place in the top three at other larger ones.

It's all luck of the draw I suppose.

I think you did the right thing by going up a class though, you certainly didn't get outmuscled size wise, infact the winner of your class was probably the least muscular of the top four, but was very sharp and posed well. It really depends on what the judges want on the day i guess?

Yep, Otara Rec. Centre.

Hopefully the lighting is good and even over the stage and there is enough room backstage for tanning/pumping up, but im not sure as I haven't been to that venue before.

I think the quality of the lighting makes or breaks the show.

Hey Matrix - it's a really shit venue. There is no room backstage at all, essentially there is no back stage. You have to walk past the audience in the open court to get to the stage door. It would have to be the worst comp venue in history. In saying all that, I'm going back for seconds (probably literally!!).

i watched the show last year and from memory, u tan up in chaging rooms on the other side of the venue from the stage, pump up upstairs in the gym lol and then walk through the audience to get on stage :pfft:

looks like fun though

Best of Luck!!,

All this talk of the quality (or lack there of) the venue is starting to burst my bubble.

Seriously maybe if all the competitors have to walk through the crowd to get to the stage then the promoters should put on intro music and pyrotechnics, along with assorted hanger oners/entourage for each competitor?

Perhaps they've had one of more problems with venue bookings - this can happen now and again and cause dates (and venues) to be changed.

Looking to October, it's a pity that NABBA have moved their Nationals in Auckland to October 25 - the same day as my good mate Willie Walker runs the NZFBB Coromandel Classic in Thames. Different locations, but I'm sure a number of people would have considered competing at or watching both events?
