how do you manage the soreness and the weakness of your muscles while trying to do other sports. I love weights and I love training hard. But then Im too sore to do the boxing or judo classes. Should I just lighten up on the weights. Would synthetic roids solve this. Any suggestions, im at a loss as to what to do?

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) is a PITA, no two ways about it, but...consider timing which workouts come before your other-sport workouts - don't do legs before soccer, maybe, where you're using your legs, or avoid chest/shoulders the day before judo.... just a thought :)

Some supps can help with recovery after a weights workout - you might also want to look at e.g. meal timings, what you have immediately after a workout, that sort of thing.

Used to do a little judo at hillside (judokwai) but im not graded in judo. I had decided to get back in to it this week and am thinking of training with Johan at the top of oteha valley road. Still in the back of my mind though to jump in to BJJ/MMA classes in Taka. Its all quite frustrating. Trying to fit the boxing in and take in one of the grappling arts. They all fall on the same days. Frustrating. Anyway, so havent officially started back at judo yet but will be training in one of the grappling arts this coming week as my diary will show.

Got to many things going you might have to Prioritize what you really want to do. Something is going to suffer, you will not be able to put 100% into everything.

If you want to keep up the Grapple, Judo, Boxing, then just do body weight workouts, wont be to taxing (DOMs) and will help out the Three Arts.

cheers bjpower, yep glutamine, fish oil and creatine are the only supplements I take, apart from protein powder of course.

Cheers for that old bull, and I do agree with you. Just got to get my head around how to prioritize and what to drop. Problem is as far as the M/A's go, the main ones all fall on the same days. Think I have it sussed now though. Thinking seriously of just concentrating on Boxing and judo and the weights, but just change my weight routine so that Im training only 3 or 4 days a week in weights. When you say just do the body weight work outs, do you mean, as in just the main compound exercises? Bench, deadlift and squats for example?

Think about adding in some hmb and bcaas. Not pushing products but I'm trialing balance ultimate recovery stack at the moment and its full of good supps for recovery. Not sure how much it is tho.

Also make sure you stretch well after your training and also the morning after.
