I need a new watch

Specifically water resistant with a multiple interval timer that beeps LOUDLY, a strong wristband.. and looks styley :shifty:

I've been doing some online research (me likes this one so far) and might head into a sports store soon for a looksee, but was just wondering if anyone on here has one that they love or recommend ??

Thanks in advance !

Not a girl's watch, but I love my Timex Ironman. It's got a USB cable that plugs into Outlook and downloads your contacts and appointments. That was the initial attraction, but I don't really use that. What I do find handy is that the USB means everything can be programmed through the computer - no more fiddling with buttons and dials. It also seems like I find another cool new function every time I plug it in.

I have two complaints:

1) It seems to chew through batteries pretty quickly (1 a year?), possibly because it's too easy to turn on the backlight accidentally.

2) The chrome on the knob started corroding on me, so I took it back and had it replaced while it was under warranty. I've just noticed the replacement is starting to do the same thing.

Having said that, this model is about 5 years old, so I imagine that newer models would have been fixed. I'll definitely be getting another from the Timex Ironman family when this one carks it.

NICE! I've never heard of Timex before  I'm not fussed about whether the watches are catered for women or men.. I just want one that's longlasting. I've had a few Nike ones in the past where the strap broke but the watch itself was still good dry.gif

I dig the idea of configuring the intervals and watch settings on the computer instead of fiddling with the little buttons! Thats a huge bonus 8) Did you order yours online? I'm a cheapskate lol, so I may see how much it is retail vs online.

Just had a squiz through the other Timex ironman watches.. there's even one that can be configured to your Ipod! OMG its like Christmas lol2.gif

I always favoured the G SHOCK series. Theyre big and sporty without looking cheap. Ive had mine for bowt 6 years and not one thing wrong. Its velcro strap and clip aswell so its very durable. If you looking at something with a bit more gadgets Polar do some awesome watches that work with most electronic gym sensors

Amazon's pretty good - but try MySimon.com for comparison shopping, just make sure that the company ships outside the United States.

Sweet link! Saves me alot of time trawling search engines

Oooh I totally forgot about the G Shock range! Polar's got some nice styles too.

Damn me and my indecisiveness. I'm heading into Rebel/Stirling today with a long list of different style watches I wanna fiddle with lol, but will most probably end up buying it on ebay (even though its in US$, int. shipping + cost is still cheaper than NZ retail!)

Cheers for all the suggestions 8)

  • 3 weeks later...

Just an update.. I eventually bought this watch (Timex Ironman 50 Lap Triathlon Sleek Womans Watch) from Amazon.com for $80, and I love it (mine's in blue though):

It has an interval timer feature where you can set your own intervals, and it beeps LOUDLY. I can even hear it while listening to my ipod :) The strap looks a bit thinner and more flimsy than it did in the pics.. but I'll only be using this for running anyway, so hopefully that should add some more years to it.
