Re: Meeting notes. Firstly let me acknowledge that while not the level of change some had been hoping for (let me clarify I was not at the meeting, and have in no way been involved in the drive to change other than at a discussion stage, but do endorse the need to improve our federation), we are at least appearing to move in the right direction. Streamlining the committee and making those on the committee run the shows in their respective territories and take ownership of the federations success in that area, will lead to (hopefully) an improvment among the quality of ALL shows. Whilst the shows themselves have not been run badly (from a competitor or spectator point of view) competitor and spectator numbers have declined to a point of being ridiculous. We are currently presenting an '80s format in the new millinium (do other sports do this.. of course not, even the olympia has changed recently). Now I don't claim to have any or all the answers to these issues, other than to say things must change to bring us back to a competitive level with other sports seeking marketing, advertising, tv time, govt/Lion money, and basically bums on seats and QUALITY competitors onstage. Whilst not knowing the ins and outs of the Moe situation in relation to the testing, it is disappointing to here that he was not there to give an explanation or a proxy representative on his behalf, and so would invite Moe to perhaps address this forum to let us know what his reasons were. Surely that is deservered by those that have offered support for the motion he raised. Now, having know Marc for 11 years, all I can say, is that Marc when you put your name forward for the committee, you will be getting my vote. Marc is a truely passionate bodybuilder, who's love of the sport is unquestionable and unquenchable, and as an extremely successful businessman with the ideas to develop the sport, and the international contacts developed through his Professional Bodybuilding career, we can only look forward to moving forward. So, if you haven't theough about it before or enough Marc, I hope this plants a seed, as you would have seen the level of support extended you on this site with your ideology around the testing, and having discussed with you in person, I know that is only a part of the game plan you would like to see for our federation. Kindest regards, Michael Kingsnorth (NZFBB since 1990!)

Well I just got out of the NZFBB AGM, and let me say what a poor showing of Athlete representation there was,so if any thing was or will be changed in the future that you are not happy with , then dont complain! Some good things to come out of the Meeting were, the committee will be reduced from 14 to 7(including the president and vice) wtih each excutive being responsible for their nominated region and a show in each region(or as they see fit),these excutives are yet to nominated and voted on.Next the way was made clear for a athlete to compete with the NZFBB and/or another federation through out the year with out the loss of their NZFBB status and/or there qualifying title for any future NZFBB events, point of note tho if a athlete wishes to represent the NZFBB in any overseas events they must have been loyal to the NZFBB for a perid of 2 years prior. That was about it actualy, on the point of the drug testing motion put forward, that was accepted to be voted on by the members at the previous comittee meetting, well that was a joke!!The guy who put the motion forward Moe Muussaoui apparently withdrew his motion at the last minute, even though at the last meeting he was a strong addvocate on this motion, and then he was unable to attend the AGM, and the NZFBB president who was also a strong addvocate of this motion offered no explination as to why this had happened and that all questions should be directed to Moe, then the president of the NZFBB made it quite clear to all those present that Moe,s claim to being a IFBB PRO was in no way endorsed by the NZFBB and the current committe !!!I dunno what went on there it all seemed rather dodgy to me considering that for those who did show up this was the princeable subject that they wanted debated and voted on,even the representive of Nutralife asked me what went on there!!So to all those guys and gals whom were hopeing to come over to the NZFBB and get a shot a pro card, well it dosent look good, I am sorry if I got your hopes up but I gotta tell ya what happened today regards to this motion was a joke, and there is some underlying goings on, that just dont add up if you ask me, Regards Marc Rainbow IFBB Pro

It's interesting, isn't it? You don't notice paragraphing (or other punctuation) when it's there... but boy, you sure notice when it's not! But since all the comments on that page are like this, I don't think we can blame the writers. :D

In the interests of balance and fairness, here's Moe's reply:

hello every one .. I am not very surprised that some people are always fast in giving accusation without knowing the whole story !

1st I had to leave to the states in the same day I got a call from my brother to let me know that I had an appointment for my american citizen ship on monday the day after the meeting and I was waiting for this for the last 5 years so I got on a plane on friday and left ...

2nd to My friend mark Rainbow I got my pro card representing lebanon because unfortunatly My application to represent New Zealand was denied because Am not A New Zealand citizen yet and as much as I loved and wanted to represent New Zealand that was My only option....

3rd to every one who heard that I droped my motion I just want to say that this motion was causing a huge amount of conflict between 2 groups .One that want to drop the drug testing for there own benefits and I wouldnt want to explain because you are smart enough to understand my point and another group that wants to keep the drug testing also for there own benefits so you can see its all a matter of business conflict and if we were more honest about the whole issue we would have given ourselves the chance to discuss the matter and come up with a result that fits what we beleive in, so obviously there is no honesty with this whole thing and I have told Mr mark stewart that I have to go and left this matter to him asking him to hear the members opinion on this matter .

at the end of the day this federation belong to the people of newzealand and there is no wright to any one including the committe to make desions on the members behalf witout the members acceptance but ladys and gents you dont realy care because when the elections time came you didnot elect any one including the president him self so when you want to accuse the president of the nzfbb or me with dodgy things you should first show intrest in geting more involved in what the nzfbb is doing.

In the last 2 years my small business has supported the NZFBB with more than 13000 thosands NZ dollars and I have been more active than any one in supporting the sport not to mention sponsering MR Lee priest to bring you the most conditioned and smart down to earth body builder that you have ever seen in New Zealand when no one else was ready to pay 4 that... my love to all the honest ones

I couldn't stop myself... The journalist and pedant in me made me break it into paragraphs! :P

Wow,

I didn't realise that their was such an undertone of opinion in the NZFBB. Seeing as I am new to this whole thing I should keep my opnions relatively neutral. I have heard in the past that their are personal conflicts amongst some of the more senior body builders, and they come up with rather 'catty' comments.

When it comes to voting and elections etc. I think it is hard to vote for anyone when I don't even know them. maybe the NZFBB should look at social events to get to know the members???? but this is all for the pres and auckland commitee members to sort if they see fit.

other wise thanks for the run down of what is happening. it is a shame that we didn't really get any conclusions made from the meeting due to numbers, attending. but I am hoping that a postal ballot is sent out to members that couldn't attend so we can get a conclusion on the testing, and number of competitions held, and what ever else is on peoples minds.

PS thanks everyone for writing this up and keeping us all informed

It all sounds pretty bad doesn't it? I think there are far too many personal agendas running around the NZFBB, and at the root of all agendas seems to be an undercurrent of money....my two cents at any rate.

Doesn't seem to be much credibility at all in some people's replies....

DO THE ELECTED PoSITIONS GET PAID to run this do they? I have always wondered if they do or if they do it for the love of the sport?

I am not sure if money is an underlying thing in the federation, I have heard inthe past that a few personal agendas do come up oftern. in all honesty i thin this is all well above me anyway. i just like to lift weights.

in the words of Forrest Gump "I'm a simple man, with simple needs"

Maybe if everyone just stuck to lifting weights and threw personal agendas out the window NZ's Bodybuilding scene would be a much more positive environment.....

I second that, more interest in what happens in the weight room not the board room

  • 2 months later...

did i miss something here? when did all this happen and get pushed through??? is anyone here going to give it a go and apply,

EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS REQUIRED

You are invited to apply for one of the following regional positions.

Auckland, Waikato/Bay of Plenty, Taranaki, Wellington and the South Island.

All applications will be posted on the website and you the members will vote on the people to represent each region. If you do not have access to a computer, then we ask you to contact our secretary at nzfbb@xtra.co.nz or call 09810-7256. (Information will be sent only to these people that request it).

In the past we have worked with a larger committee, we are trying to move ahead and stream line our organization, we feel this can be achieved by having people oversee a region.

The sky is the limit to what you can do, you could use smaller sub committees to assist you to ensure your region moves ahead.

If you are looking for adventure and excitement then this could be you! If you have passion for the health and fitness industry then this is you!

We look forward to receiving your applications.

The NZFBB
