Grant's guest posing at this show...first guest pose for him too i think!

He has symmetry & size to burn with a huge potential in our sport.... you just have to check out the front lat spread too its something to be seen, Good luck Grant and enjoy it.

Good luck to everyone competing on Saturday, see you soon.

:D

Great show put on by Willie, the stage presentation was fantasic, and some of the ladies (especially Rhonda Bryers- who must have known in advance there was a catwalk as she used it in her routine like a professional - and seeing her onstage presentation during the prejudging she probably should be). The special seating for sponsors and VIP's was excellent but didn't detract from keeping the general admission close enough to create the atmosphere.

The highlights were:

Paul Nelson winning the Classic mens...that rear lat spread looked like a granite foundation you could build a skyscraper on, you must have a hell of a trainer to create that? \:D/

Novice mens winner Andrew, he reminded me of Mr Universe 1986 Rolf Moeller. facially he looked similar, but also had the thickest widest delts, very unusual for a tall guy, but totally dominated the stage, and quads that matched. I'm calling it now already, this guy WILL win his class in the Nationals next year.

The Open figure, I have a feeling that Thames hadn't seen a lineup like that since....ever. I'm not sure that the locals knew what to make of the likes of Monty, Raechelle, Rhonda and Michelle (sorry I don't know the names of the other two ladies), but they like what they saw for obvious reasons, and as Charlie (my wife) said "when they walked out the whole show was lifted to a new level"

Grants Guest pose: put on straight after the Novice mens: there were actual people gasping in the audience at his size. I actually laughed at the MC commenting that one of Grants goals is a Pro Card..... I think he should realistically be aiming higher than that...because in my eyes its a given that he'll get it wether this year of next!

Moes Guest pose: if they gasped at Grant when he walked out,

they must've thought aliens had landed when Mr Moussawi came onstage such was the reaction, he was in better shape than at nationals and I'm not sure he's stopped dieting since Vegas, although I spotted a half eaten pack of Chocolate Wheatens in his bag so that may be the secret.

Moes bicep had more peak than the hills around Thames, and his hammy cuts were deaper than the local mine shafts.

My only gripe is this: MOE you focus a lot of your posing on your bis, and in my opinion your quads even better!!! They are all I could look at and can't wait to train legs tomorrow..dicky knee injury and all.

Lastly, the crowd, total support, interaction, energy, atmosphere and appreciation. They matched any crowd I've heard and there can't have been more than a few hundred but they blew the roof off and the athletes totally fed off it and must've felt the reward for their hard work.

Well done Willie, can't wait til next year.

Well done to Willie for organisation on Sat. Great to see a good turnout of competitors and supporters to little ole Thames. Paul Bowman, (No: 23) you were awesome, totally ripped and a great effort for a tall man to get under that 80kgs and look spectacular!!! Dont know much of the BB jargon, but thought that "rear lat spread looked like a granite foundation too", and an awesome routine. You looked pretty good to me!!! Well done babe you made me proud :-)

interesting you say that... and he wouldn't have even been judged on it as the mens classic doesn't include either front or rear lat spreads...

I have photos of the judging but he only got to a lat spread in his routine. I really feel that they are making the Classic an inferior class. I will be training hard and looking toward the Open 80-90.

It isn't that interesting, I'm just commenting on what I saw at the night show routines and in the posedown, not implying it was judged on, althought that same back thickness was evident in his real double bis.

As for the Classic being inferior, your in disneyland mate, anyone who was at the Nationals saw 2 WORLD CLASS Classic competitors there, looks in great hands to me.

Never been to Disneyland Mate! I am not saying at all that the class of competitor is inferior - it was great being up against some guys that were in fantastic shape (much better than myself)... I feel as a competitor in the Mens Classic that it is coming across as a sub class, not a desirable one to go in even if for nothing more than the fact that if you win it you are not eligible for the overall... the mens master classes are able to go in the overall (and so they should). The Classic winner at Thames was in just as good a Condition (even if smaller) than the best in any other class. Now they have cut the lat poses from it it just makes it seem even worse (as a competitor), I spent a lot of time practicing my front lat spread :) and had no idea it was no longer part of the classic.

I had heaps of fun and didn't mean to make a big deal of this but that is how I feel and I will not be competing in the Classic again. But I sure will be competing again.

As a Classic competitor I'm kind of torn on both MikeK and ED-Aish views.

Classic is fast becoming a very popular class world wide (NZ also) and is more often than not producing athletes who on the night are slightly smaller (not always though) but in much better condition than allot of the Physique class athletes.

It is a kick in the guts that you will never be eligible for an overall title or never get to do a Lat spread but you know this before entering the class so you just have to build a bridge and get over it :pfft:

It is my belief that Classic does need tweaking in places, including telling athletes what poses are and are not allowed and perhaps a restructure to a novice and open. I'm sure these things and many more will occur as the class gets more popular and all of the Executive at NZFBB view it as a class of great appeal to the public.

So if your out there thinking of competing but don't think you have the size to compete with the mass monsters (full credit to them) but you can get lean and shredded give Classic a go. The more the merrier \:D/

Oh if there is any doubt on how this class could go, take a look at the pics on this thread.

No doubt big man you are the future in NZ, and I have to agree that aiming to be on that Olympia stage is a very meritorious goal you should strive for......after all when the lights go down and the show is over......that stage isn't going to sweep itself \:D/ \:D/

All good.. :pfft:
