NZFBB Auckland Champs

Recommended Posts

I realised that it would be impossible to reason with the "I'm better than you because I paid more" mentality....so I gave up.

fitkate - can I recommend that you make a formal complaint to the NZFBB about this. I know who you are talking about and unfortunately it does not surprise me. There is no excuse at all for that kind of arrogant and rude behaviour from anyone, but especially not from IFBB "Professionals" ( ) AND considering one of them is also an NZFBB Executive.

I can bring this to the attention of the rest of the Executive, but without your formal complaint it won't carry as much weight.

Hi Mastertel, I was sitting with fitkate during this incident and to be honest the response she got made me shrink into the seat due to the menacing looks through the rest of the show, do you really think that making a formal complaint is a good idea given the small size of the bodybuilding community? I am not saying that we shouldnt stand up to it, but what would happen if she did make a formal complaint exactly?

Well, rollesbygirl - I know it's not the first time this person (we'll call him by his new name ... Mr Taylor! ) has acted like this. I can appreciate your concern about what might happen if a formal complaint is made, so let me talk to Mark Stewart about it and I can then advise what should be done and what can be expected in terms of an outcome. Either way I will raise it at our next Exec meeting, with the aim of at least a stern warning being issued to "Mr. Taylor" that further such incidents will not be tolerated.

lol i doubt very much

You might think so, 2guns, but if a warning is issued and the behaviour is repeated it is highly likely he will be voted off the Exec. The behaviour is not only highly disrespectful to the people concerned, but also embarassing to the NZFBB Executive of which he is a member!

Hi All

This most likely has been asked before but being new here I'll ask any way,

Just having competed at the Auckland Champs, and Con-Grads to all, is there any way you get to see the judge’s remarks/points for your group?

I’m sure this would be a benefit to competitors, being able to see and perhaps identify where ones week points are or how one compares to another in the same class, from the judges point of view rather than our own.

Cheers

Letty

It is sad that these guys are representatives of bodybuilding in NZ and were being so disrespectful. They surely had to start at the bottom just like the rest of us! :naughty:

Thanks Mastertel for explaining the reason for cutting the routine. I had been misinformed and thought it was 90 secs - no worries, i know now!

Loving being part of this chat room :D

who are you talking about? sorry I was there in the morning and must have missed all the exciting stuff, why does everyone talk about the people but no one actually names them? Surely if there were names then if anyone else had a complaint they could support the others. Is everyone too scared to name them?

If you can find them after the comp they are usually pretty happy to have a chat with you and discuss your class and where you can improve.

MT I'm happy for you to chat with Mark about it (although I have a feeling the grapevine has beaten you to it). I am hesitant to make a complaint because I'm aware that Mark and the NZFBB rely on sponsors for events like the AKL champs and I don't want to jeopardise that.

By making people aware of the behaviour I was hoping it might hurt his business (although the taste of dymatize butter cream toffee should do that too! )

Also, as Rollesbygirl said, Mr Jones was the worst of the two and the one that actually made the direct comment. Mr Taylor said "can you hear us" and I responded "yes" (why else would I be asking them to be quiet???)

BJ, not afraid to name really, as I said above just wanted to point out this behaviour and encourage people to shop elsewhere for their supplements. Moe and Salah are great athletes at the top of their field, which is all the more reason they should be encouraging and supportive of amateur athletes. Moe was involved in a prize giving on the night and was re-named Moe Taylor - hence the code - not intentionally trying to keep you in the dark :)

That's a very generous attitude, fitkate, but I doubt that taking action against these guys will hurt the NZFBB financially - quite possibly the opposite.

Sure, Moe and Salah have been significant financial supporters of the NZFBB for the past few years, and can and should be admired as bodybuilders ... especially Moe as he has achieved the rare honour of (twice) qualifying for this years Mr Olympia event.

Despite that, no matter how much oney someone gives the NZFBB, or how good a competitor they are - it does not give them the right to act like spoilt brats who think they own the show. Ironic to think they are IFBB "Professionals" ... perhaps by body but certainly not by behaviour! At least our two IFBB Pro Mike's (Kingsnorth and Debenham) more than make up for them in attitude, behaviour and professionalism in every respect!

I already know of a few sponsors who are wary of being involved with the NZFBB because of their behaviour at previous events, and I'm sure a number of sponsors who were at last Saturday's shows would have witnessed their actions and been far from impressed.

So, by making a formal complaint and having the NZFBB consider it and take action is not likely to jeapodise the reputation or the financial position of the NZFBB ... it's far more likely to do the opposite!

Agreed about Mike Kingsnorth just reading his comments on this board shows he genuinely cares and supports the new and upcoming athletes, I wanted to go up to him after the show and tell him how much I admired him but was a bit too chicken, and Mike Debenham too we both know as a true pro, Mike D would definitely not behave like that and is quite passionate about how things should be , lets hope the future of the sport is kept in the hands of those such as Terry Hills and the two Mikes!

Someone alert the spelling police!

Good points about the two Mike's though....

Already in Mike Kingsnorth's career as a pro he has shown a huge willingness to give a lot to NZ bodybuilding and I'm sure Mr Debenham will follow suit. Awesome role models...

I would have to agree Rachelle Chase she would go very well on the pro scine and for a guy overseas watching Rachelle Chase at IFBB show overseas would be thinking that is one VERY HOT FIGURE GIRL.
