NZFBB NZ National Champs

All I can say is it was a fantastic show, well run and a real great standard of competitors. As far as the overall men goes, I believe dan derserved it, so did Sanjeev, Grant and Peter Hunt. Peter, Dan and Sanjeev were all so in balance and nothing obviously lacking. The overall could have gone anyway between those 4 for a number of differrent reasons and It still would have been a good decision. Yet so many forum members get on the band wagon under multiple user names just to have a bitch or moan. Instead look at the big Picture. There was a large number of experienced judges at this event which made it all that much fairer. All those that were there would have to agree that the juding on the night was pretty spot on.

As far as Rachelles class goes, well she is stunning however the winner and her were also close and the decision fair but again could have gone either way there. From a audience perspective when RC did not win, it was obviously from her reaction how disappointed she was yet that doesnt mean the winner didnt do the hard yards as well. some you win and some you lose, go ask the judges what you need to improve on and get back in the gym and use the loss as fuel to get better and aim to win next time. Good sportsman ship is fantastic to see, likewise bad sportsman ship and being a sore loser gets no one anywhere apart from just embarrassing themselves.

The show was a total credit to the standard of bodybuilding in new zealand, both male and female and also a real credit to MT (Terry Hills for such great organisation of the event)

Having so many IFBB pros there was also a inspiration to the sport not to mention Moe, he was fantastic and for Moe to pose and not accept a guest posers fee plus giveaway(free)signed photos of himself to the fans really shows how much he cares about the sport especially as the poor guy was probably buggered from all the travel and olympia etc. Fans would have been prepared to pay for pics of Moe as we had to with the pros at the pro show in march.

We all know what a subjective sport this is and rarely does everyone ever all agree on all results as they are all based on opinions right. I wish we would all just celebrate each others sucesses, and just try to improve ourselves as we can never control who will step up on stage next to us when we compete but we can control our own improvements.

I have been reading these posts with interest, and from my perspective (for whats it worth) you have to look at the overall setup and there are multiple judges, therefore, if a majority of judges place a competitor then thats how it is, its not like one judge who is bias or has funny ideas, they all contribute to the final score. If you read some of the bio's of some well accomblished BB;s they didnt necessarily come out and win all their first shows, each show prepares you for the next, and if you are good enough and have the resources, then compete overseas, who are we to say whether any of our National placings would or would not make it???? The girl who placed first in the Novice Figure short in the SI didnt even make the top five on Sat, yet the girl who she beat, placed third, lets give everybody credit for their efforts, and also the judges, sounds like theres always going to be somebody who willl disagree. I hope Raechelle takes the constructive feedback and comes back even better, its not a loss at all?

Well done to Daniel and to Sheryl for their well desrved overalls !!! I felt proud as a supporter to watch and see people achieve their goals, maybe some forum members should type less and concentrate on getting their butts on stage next year and put their money where their mouths are!

I can only say that Dan totally deserved his win, the quality of his physique has always been outstanding and on this particular night it was in all aspects - I was literally 4ft away from him on stage so got to see first hand. The concentration and intensity on his face was amazing and something that not alot of people would have seen and you could tell he really wanted it, hence we didnt see alot of his trademark smile at that point in time either BUT thats totally understandable. I think his reaction when he won too was also priceless and reflective of a guy that works very hard for it all but at the end of the day is still very humble and approachable to everyone

Thanks for the comment MikeD but i was there too and still seems a bad decision to me. Raechelle had far better glutes, abdominals and back structure and I didn't think her posing was that bad. Raechelle has made astounding progress over the last 12 months and she is by far the "best" to represent NZ internationally with the right look but instead we have someone who will not place - mark my words. I think the judges need to look internationally when looking at who is selected or there is the risk we lose the very girls who could take the sport further.

I couldn't agree more Hotcheeks. I think Raechelle took her 2nd placing really well, I wouldn't have blamed her if she took off her 2nd place medal & threw it. From the audience it looked absolutly crazy when she didn't win!

Oh the controversy…….

It appears we all have our opinions and we all have our supporting logic (I use the term loosely), fortunately the responsibility of judging is on the shoulders of others. It is far simpler to suggest they made the mistakes than be accused of it ourselves, it’s a task that I am sure they don’t treat lightly and I know I wouldn’t want to do it.

Personally I think some of the forum comments are a little too specific and personal, especially in regards to someone’s suitability to represent NZ based on their attractiveness. Forgive me if I am wrong; is this not a bodybuilding contest?

You know who I mean :naughty:

Physique is for the hemen, shemen but figure should always be for the best package IMO and that sure as hell should include beauty, body aesthetics - and that is clearly evident on the international stage, just saying it should be on NZ stage also if we are going to progress.

I agree, but its a contradiction for some to suggest we send the most beautiful when the physique doesn't stack up (dont read anything into this as its purely a statement, no reflection on anyone).

IMO I think Rachel Hunter looked like a horse but she obviously appeals to someone, I would take Elle McPherson anyday  .

Perhaps a topic for another day, Elle if you are reading this my number is.....

Im sure my wife who won the novice under 55kg title (i did not judge that class either by the way) would appreciate your heman sheman comment. as would jo stewart, Ra, mandy matherson, karen kelly, shell i continue??? because as far as im concerned these ladies are all far from shemen, you could not ask for a group of better looking, feminine yet stong and driven women.

I think OldSchool alluded to the fact with Jax and I've certainly seen the manliness side take over that girls whole appearance in the last few years. But whatever, decisions judgements controversy politics call it what you want, seemed like a no brainer to me but yadayadayada LOL

keep diggin hot cheeks, you said it - I quoted it and took offence to it, now move on.

Whether someone has a manly face, who gives a sh8t anyway, plus not a nice thing to say?

They aren't not being judged on that - they are being judged on their physique and posing.

But how good was the back stage antics on Saturday, gees those figure ladies with their vino consumption, great night and I thoroughly enjoythe lead up, competing and the shameless self indulgence afterwards.

Go the Physique women - strong & beautiful fine specimens they are.

Some of the comments being posted on here about the way some of the physique women in NZ look are just plain rude and disrespectful. They are all women and should be treated with more respect. Some of them probably train harder than some of the people making the rude comments.

may be new signed up members but certainly arent new to what goes on, why dont you use your real name if your so concerned about who says what yourself, IMO you are too sensitive and need to take a chill pill, does that sound good

I dont care if you want to have a go at a decision or another competitor I was just talking about members posting with a different alias. If you're here to stay how about going over to the introduce yourself forum and tell us all about your Hot Cheeks. Sound good?
