I look forward to seeing you here in October, Sheta!

Things are progressing nicely for this event, and I'm making slow but steady progress signing up sponsors for it.

If anyone is interested in being a sponsor of this event, or you know of anyone who might be interested, please send me an email and I'll forward a sponsorship proposal. This also applies to any other NZFBB event ... if I'm not organising it, then I will put you onto the person who is!

Great suggestion, weener lad. The airlines have been approached before for sponsorship without success, but it's definitely worth another go .. especially as there is more competition between the various airlines these days.

if you are looking at sponsorship with a National or competitor airline you will have to approach them with a proposal on behalf of the President of the NZFBB or even coming from the big honcho's (IFBB) this could include ie all competitors/executive committee to travel with that particular airline for a contract period including all international competitors like the pros who came across in March for the pro show, all marketing and promotions to adhere to there Marketing Directors standards etc, This could mean that any other sponsorship could be at a loss due to the recognition that they may want. (win for the big guy loss for the lil guy if you get my drift)

Airlines tend to look at what THEY would get out of it and unfortunately with bodybuilding there's not much, theres no TV coverage with prime time or with media (newspapers).

I know it would be great to see a company like that come on board but I think it would be very hard pushed! Our Airlines to tend to go for professional teams like NZRFU, Super 14, Warriors etc who make big money

Yes, that's exactly right pacific_figure. Unfortunately this situation applies to a lot of the larger businesses and corporations.

I tend to get more interest from small to medium sized companies who see a $300 - $400 sponsorship package giving them the opportunity for some valuable advertising opportunities (logo display on posters, on-stage banners) and active participation (i.e. VIP tickets, presenting prizes, operating a stall etc) without breaking the bank. And some of these sponsors are not the typical health & fitness type of company (e.g. gyms, supplement brands, fitness equipment etc).

The bottom line is that sponsors certainly deserve to get value for money - it sometimes just requires getting their attention long enough to convince them that what we can offer is of value to them.

MT i have a question, i qulaified at the show on the weekend as novice over 80kg.

now, if i weigh in at the nats at say 78kg can i do 70-80kg novice even thought i didnt qualify in that weight?

No need to worry, 2guns - you have qualified to do Novice Physique at Nationals, in whatever class decided by your weight when you register on Oct 17.

I'm sure a number of competitors end up doing a different weight class at Nationals compared to their qualifying show.

Well done on your performance last weekend - you and the three guys in Novice 70-80kg were all very impressive, along with Andrew, Darrin and Nickawana in the Open classes. That will be an excellent class at Nationals - and judging by what I saw on Saturday you should do well!

Hey MT great work on sat at the Sonny, was a well run show from a competitors point of view.

Quick question, is the Nationals in 10kg increments this year or still 5kg?

Thanks very much, IronGame. I just looked the competitor class lists and the music - the credit for organising that show goes to Mark Stewart. The support crew Mark has is Auckland are a fantastic bunch - and I'm very lucky to have a great crew here in Wellington too!

It is 10kg increments again for Open Men at Nationals this year. It seemed to work well last year and better than the old 5kg increments with only 2 or 3 in each class.
