I was repeating something I had heard, I never looked to far into it cos I dont eat at night.

However I believe it is something along the lines of during nighttime because of your natural body clock your body temp is drops and when ur body temp drops ur metab drops

I would say eat slightly less, your body heat lowers at night time as does your metabolism, depends on your goals, though.

Lmao...biggest load ever...

Go you    ...let's everyone listen to Laver...

How about in winter?? Shall we eat slightly less too?? Because it is cold outside??

comeing in late on this one, but yeah eat as per norm. when i read the title i thought you were mentioning the old school wake up in the middle to the night to get another meal in. did this for a few months, surprisingly easy when you wake for your mid night piss.

Hey Laver, don't feel your suggestion was stupid. If you had been wrong, you'd only have been speaking for those of us who didn't know, and we'd all have learnt something. I'd hate to think people stopped making suggestions for fear of being ridiculed.

The people giving you shit aren't basing their criticisms on the fact that they can prove you're wrong - just that they've never seen proof that you're right. Not the best grounds for forming an opinion, eh?

Now here's the good bit... I don't think you are wrong. :D

What you are talking about is a link between the circadian rhythm (your internal body clock) and the metabolism. Phrase it like that, and it doesn't sound quite so far-fetched any more, does it?

And look, here's Science Daily agreeing with you...

Many of our basic functions, including regulating body temperature and hormone levels, vary throughout the day and night. Some of these changes may relate to being asleep or awake and on the job, but others are under the control of a biochemical timepiece that sets and resets daily.

...

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine have discovered that components of the internal molecular clock of mammals have an important role in governing the metabolism of sugars and fats within the body. They found in mice that two of the well-studied proteins in the clock control the ability of animals to recover from the fall in blood sugar that occurs in response to insulin.

...

The mice with a mutation in the Clock gene fed a regular diet gained about as much weight as normal mice that were fed a high-fat diet. The mice with a mutation in the Clock gene showed even greater weight gain and changes in metabolism when fed a high-fat diet. They developed a wide range of conditions associated with obesity, diabetes, and the metabolic syndrome, such as high levels of blood cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose, and insulin resistance.

Your circadian rhythm is effected more by sleep patterns than weither it is dark outside or not - Which is what the first post was reffering to.
