NZBB Challenge 2008, the Before set

It's that time again - the start of the next NZBB Challenge. For the last couple of years, we've run the Challenge - an online competition to get people motivated about bodybuilding and improving their physique. We get the competitors to post Before, Middle and After photos, with 10 weeks in between each set. This allows time for some dramatic changes, but no time to slack off.

Thanks to this year's lovely sponsors: Horleys and Punch Supplements and Theatrics Hawkes Bay. Between them, they've committed over $1,000 worth of prizes for the winners (and maybe a few runners-up too, if you're lucky). Here are their logos for you all to memorise and worship...

It makes a huge difference having such generous supporters, so please show your appreciation by supporting them back.

So now to the rules...

Entrants will be judged for Best Overall Physique and Most Improved Physique, so you've all got a chance at winning, regardless of how big you are. Prizes for the runners-up will be in the Most Improved category - so those of you with perfect physiques already will just have to make them more perfect. Terribly sorry about that.

  • Entrants will be required to post sets of progress photos at approximately 10-week intervals. The deadlines will be put in the Event Calendar, so you'll be able to see D-day looming.
    • Set 1: due Sunday, 18 May
    • Set 2: due Sunday, 27 July
    • Final set: due Sunday, 5 October

[*]Sets 1 & 2 are not judged, but you're all encouraged to give each other advice. For instance, someone might need to work on their chest more, or pose with their elbows higher - that kind of thing.

[*]Contestants must enter photos in all three sets, even if they're only going for best overall physique.

[*]For each set, each contestant must post the following photos:

    • a Front Double Bicep pose,
    • a Back Double Bicep pose,
    • two different poses of their choice, and
    • a relaxed pose showing the contestant holding a sign with the current date clearly visible.

[*]All photos should be full-body shots from head to toe. (Faces can be blocked out if you wish).

[*]Shorts should be rolled up to show quads/hams.

[*]The Most Improved cannot be won by the Best Overall winner. If this happens, the "next-most improved" will become the winner.

[*]In the case of really spectacular transformations, we reserve the right to demand proof. :D

So come on people - let's see your pics!

Can we have the photos date stamped to ensure they are actually taken at the right time? Maybe if they have something in the backround with NZBB writen on it?

I am ruined for most improved. Stay too lean now for any dramatic change over 10 weeks

Should be good, I have alot to improve on

I think the pics need to date stamped or something to ensure they were actually taken on the day, I mean people could have a pic from 2 years ago before they started lifting with skin and bones which they could post.

I might take some pics today actually. I started lifting exactly 6 months ago so I was going to get some half year pics anyways.. :(

Awesome stuff Luigi  , looks like your got a very solid base, everything looks well proportioned

When doing the rear lat spread keep your head up and don't roll your shoulders forward doing this will cause you to hunch over and loose the width in your back.

Also try to keep your feet a bit closer in your front on poses probably 10-15cm apart with a slight bend in your knees

Apart from that all good :D

and luigi, u have a good base as others have said. good biceps and lats. and even if things arent very developed at present they are in proportion by the looks and thats a good way to start. having everything even means u can keep it even while making it bigger

will be good to see the improvements u make in the first 10 weeks

all the best

fantastic size and equally good proportion there biggurl27

the only thing I would suggest would be to lower your hand position 8-10cm on the front lat spread and not bend your hands down so much on the front double bicep ... that been said your posing is very very good

Hey thanks 2guns. Rules state:

"a relaxed pose showing the contestant holding a sign with the current date clearly visible."

Oh usually compete at 64kgs, 70.6kgs now so will see how I go, I think lighter this time as i have a bit more time to get leaner.

Cheers Andrew, haven't done posing for quite some time, except when I bust some out in the bathroom after my shower haha Come on don't tell me you don't do it? :pfft:
