NZFBB South Island classic 08

Recommended Posts

The classic which at the start a lot of guys seemed to think might be an easy option is now shaping up to be a real tough class.

Look at the winners of the last few shows from last year and the lineup at the nationals.

There was only one guy at the welly show in the classic and he was awesome.

I did the under 70 open at the welly show but from now on i'm going to compete in the classic.

If they split it up into height and weight classes eventually it might get even tougher. 8)

And by the way weener lad there is no novice classic class. It's one class and anyone who meets the height / weight can enter.

G day diamond

No I didn't realise there wasn't a novice class but I am well aware of the standard in the class I've been keeping a good eye on it over the last year

I may very well get there...if i can find some calves and self discipline as we get closer :)

I know the feeling only its my sweep and hammys

The only bummer thing about the classic class is that you can't do the overalls. I know Rod (the classic competitor in Welly) was gutted as he was unaware of this.

I wasn't aware of this, either. Anyone know the logic behind it? :?

I was 2nd in the NZFBB South Island Champs Classic Men's class last year, and the winner (Jason Ion) was definitely NOT in the overall line-up.

The NZFBB judges made a decision when the Classic class was introduced last year that the winner of this class will not be eligible to line up and contest the Overall Men's title. The Classic class has subtle differences in judging criteria to all other male classes, so the judges deemed only the standard Physique class winners should contest the Overall title. It's similar to the Body Fitness class winners not contesting either the Figure or Women's Physique Overall title.

If we can keep getting good quality Classic competitors up on stage it wont be to many years before we will have Classic Novice and Open and fingers crossed have all height classes and an overall Classic. BUT what we need is plenty of you guys to get up on stage. So far looking at what has come through in the Classic. we are getting athletes in GR8 condition so it is not by any means an easy ride in Classic.

And as for Weener Lads holiday after the south Islands........ I told you you were getting your priorities all wrong.....LOL..... Where did you holiday again???

Hey Mr D

Whats NZFBB thoughts on splitting classic class into its 3 classes if they get similar numbers to last year?

There were either 5 or 6 of us in that class last year, weener lad. If the same numbers do Classic this year, I doubt very much it will be split. Perhaps if 8 or 9 front up, there would be a case for perhaps two classes. It would be the call of the head judge (Mike - is it Jean Scott this year?).

I'm looking forward to coming down next week to help out at the show!

Man my brain must be mush, thought there was more than that (9).

Thanks MT just wondered how they would work it if too many showed up for the class. See you down here.
