Making your own home gym ab gear...

Hi all.

Been a while since I posted...

This might belong more in the equipment forum, but there seems to be so few visitors there.

I decided my home gym could use a little addition, so I have fabricated my own "ab sling" I've named it the ab-Xtractor 9000.

Canvas belt with padding hooked up to the chain that normally holds the lat pulldown bar.

Works pretty well. Anyone else of a DIY bent?

It works a lot like those helicopter rescue harnesses - goes under the arms and across the chest, and geez it get s the abs going.

I used to do crunches (with and without weights), leg raises et al, but stopped feeling any impact...this works so much better for me.

Niiice! I'll have to give that a try. I really like weighted crunches, but the machine my gym has for this is past its use-by date. Rope pull-down crunches are good, too, although I never see anyone else doing them...

EDIT: I moved the topic, by the way. It'll show up on the front page, so just as many people will see it. And in fact, because the Equipment forum moves slower, it'll stay on the front page for longer. Strategy! :D

Most Powerlifters use this exercise, but just holding a rope behind their head.

:ditto:

Havent met one yet who doesn't, but good DYI dcx17

Can you describe this excersize a bit more? Do you face away from the machine? Rounded spine I take it?

Cheers, Sam.
