Complete opposite really......

Just wondering if there are any Mums on here that are or have dieted down and discover their skin takes longer to bounce back especially around the abdomen? Could be guys too, dunno?

Its going slowly but surely, not noticiable (only to me) I hope. I was 110kgs per child so stretch to optimum haha Now 70kgs

What does everyone suggest for toning/firming skin, any tips and tricks I should know about?

Thanks Ladies

yeah its a problem for most peeps that are 30 and over, the elasticity is reduced somewhat with age as you know, then you have the whole "stretch beyond the call of duty" thing when ur preggy and that definately takes its toll. Guys get it too with the beer-belly thing going on. On top of that you have the adipose fat tissue (its more viscous than your standard fat - imagine its like scar-tissue fat) which is just particularly stubborn to shift which is normally caused the given fat in that area being allowed to hang around too long. To mind there are many things that can break it down but Yohimbe is one, although i hear its banned here now.

(i've only been in the country a matter of weeks so i'm not too up on the whys and wherefors yet)

I've found that using Bio-oil is good. Looks like you were blessed with fairly stretchy skin and have managed to dodge the stretch-marks (lucky cow :pfft: lol). If the time comes to put on the contest bikini and there is still a bit of loose skin, then pulling the skin and bikini-biting that puppy into the tiny piece of fabric can be done, just try to not put so much dream tan on where you want it to stick or it ain't gonna happen

Thanks peeps, trying a massage bar from Lush too, which I used when pregnant, not the exact one, new one haha didn't get a stretch mark and seems to help. Yeah didn't think the bio oil was that flash.

What you guys think about sun beds? Help or hindrance?

Yeah I have a waist Alex, just not a small one :?

My PT swears by 'em, nags me to try 'em...but if they charge by the square cm like spraytans, I can't afford 'em

Mind you, the same goes for Bio-oil..I got the loose-skin thing happening but they'd need a supertanker full to save me!

I watched someone at the Wellie show whose tan was too light in the AM, probably hurt their chances, they came back in the evening muuuuch better, but if you've a good natural tan to start that's gotta be an advantage. Plus, you get to be warm!

Nar not sunbeds for tanning for changing the appearance of skin whether it helps with tightening/firming the skin, anyone know?

Sorry, should have been more accurate - one of the reasons that my PT is on my case is precisely that, to help with getting rid of the evidence of where the belly used to be....

I have loose skin around the waist. I haven't had kids but put on heaps of weight in my 20's and then lost it - the skin obviously stretched and now it is a bit hangy e.g. if I get down on all fours like a dog (no jokes please...) then it will hang down...so not sure if this is what it is also like after pregnancy.

I doubt oil fixes it - although I do rub cream into my body (so worth a try!). I see the TV shows of people who have lost heaps of weight and for many surgery is the only way they get rid of some of that stretched skin. For some people it bounces back but it may be harder for others. But hey - eat clean, heaps of ab exercises ...all those things must help a bit.

Yep same same, putting on excess weight whether it be pregancy or not, male or female has same effect. Also people dieting down for comps and loosing weight too quickly will get very loose skin and it takes time to bounce back, usually faster under 30 years of age, over 30 skin takes longer.

I was very lucky not to get stretch marks but used Palmers Cocoa Butter Massage Cream For Stretch Marks.

I also used through whole pregancy and again now:

Lush Therapy Massage bar - its the bomb!!

Calming lavender and neroli minimize scars and stretch marks

This gently moisturizing massage bar is not only a good listener, but its neroli and lavender know how to soothe stressed-out skin, including problem areas like scars and stretch marks. Therapy is the perfect massage bar to take to bed with you when your mind and body are both spent.

I have stretch marks and loose skin in the lower part of my belly from having kids, I

think its worse when you are small to start with. I have found that the bio oil is ok, sunbeds def reduce the stretch marks. Keeping smaller is much better, but the product I was put on to is by far the best and has actually worked on my eighteen year old stretchies - Strivectin, its pretty expensive but actually works I have done it and am thrilled, I am currently saving for my second tube. Can buy from Farmers at $299 a tube or $190 off Trademe

Strivectin is just weak Retin-A (so Retin - A) is better for reguevination, Sunbed skin tightening if you use UVB lights will tighten (UVB were more common back in the day as they say - now its most likely to be a UVA bed) as this is causing something similar/same as sunburn - you know how your face feels tight when its burnt! Whereas UVA tend not to burn but to age the skin. Final word on sunbeds...use them for tanning thas it.

An idea that springs to mins is a "body wrap" - i will find the name of the specific one for you (as ive again only seen it in the uk, having just moved here) - the wrap will help the skin contract and remove excess water from beneath the skin too, you will usually lose a few inches in total all over.

Later Dudettes,

Alex
