Do you think it is good to train hard and heavy for a month on certain exercises? Then train light for a month on different exercises so you are mixing it up and letting you're body relax a bit. Then changing it back so you are rotating every four weeks.

There is definatley room for both low rep heavy weight and high rep lighter weight. Not sure about the time frame though. I used to do them both in week, low reps near the start of the week, high at the end.

i think the onyl reason to ever go "light" on any exercise is : injury, mental weakness. if you want your body to recover, take a week off.

Absolutely. I think you need to keep changing it up.

I'd stay on each one a bit longer than a month though. You would just be getting into the swing of things, and it would be time to change... Go for 6-8 weeks instead. :)

Now, when I say light, I don't mean really light weights... I'd suggest choosing a weight you reach failure with between 12-15 reps. For the heavy phase, I'd suggest 4-8 reps.

I agree with this aswell. Muffinman and I tend to stick to 6 weeks of heavy and then 1 -2 weeks of lighter weight and heavy reps just to shock the muscles.

Again, I agree that nobody should go too light, 15 reps should be a max.

I do an occasional week of light weights high reps just as a change of pace just because I feel like it, not very scientific but it is more a psycological thing than physical which can play a large part for me in my training anyway
