Cheap Chicken????

Hey all thought this was the best place for this topic.

I'm charging through the chicken breasts (I guess most of you are the same). Anyway its becoming bloody expensive because the cheapest I can find is The Mad Butcher ($12.95 kg) Anybody got another source cheaper?

Are you buying it without the skin? At my Mad Butcher's it's $10.99 with skin, $12.99 without skin.

My Pak N Save has chicken with skin on in the bulk section for $11.45 every week. Does the Mad butcher have the chicken at that price every week?

Hornby. I normaly buy 3 to 4 x 1kg trays each week as I have to feed a family of four including me.

i doubt it , considering you "dont have alot of room in your freezer"

Mad butcher in Wanganui has Boneless Chicken breast for $9.99 every 4-6weeks.

Thats when I stock up, I just spend a little while ripping all the skin off after I buy it

New World Metro charge $22.95 per KG, which is expensive when you are going through 1.2-1.5kg of it a day :pfft:

Yep, New World ain't cheap - and the Mad Butcher soaks up savings in gas getting out to it... I'm starting to think that the only way to save money is to get a cheap chest freezer and watch the junk mail for specials... like last week New World Thorndon had boneless thighs for $14 or so. Even frozen chooks are getting expensive....

Yeah Lower Hutt and Porirua both have Mad Butcher's as well.

Well I only eat chicken, brown rice, eggs and brocolli usually - so apart from chicken the rest is pretty cheap.

Didn't think I was! Just trying to find the cheapest source possible especially when I'm going through 5+ Kgs a week. :grin:
