Sorry!

This site is in read-only mode right now. You can browse all our old topics (and there's a lot of them) but you won't be able to add to them.

What do you find attractive?

*sigh*

And just this morning I was thinking how peaceful everything was! :(

Here's an excerpt from the rules you all agreed to on Registration. Just as a refresher, of course, because I'm sure you all read them carefully the first time, didn't you?! :P

Too many forums have been ruined by members turning them into a slugfest. NZ Bodybuilding is determined to avoid this. NO PERSONAL ATTACKS WILL BE TOLERATED! Discussion and debate is encouraged, but we will not allow members to abuse each other.

Please read your replies carefully before posting them - people are easily offended, and what you mean as a joke may be taken the wrong way. Try to word your response to avoid this, and use smileys when in doubt.

Brock Solids' post was inappropriate - I don't want to read about what "shit" he wants to "hit".

That doesn't make it inappropriate. You can hardly expect everyone to anticipate and only post what you want to read about.

BTW, I'm still in the dark as to what the objection is. It seems like Brock has a fairly good plan to me.

It's not what he said, it's how he said it. I don't think his crude post was appropriate on this forum. Personally, I would like people to think before they post here and to consider where they're posting.

This isn't an unmoderated newsgroup where anything goes, it's a forum which has escaped the aggression and flame wars that are pretty much part of the landscape on many similar forums. I for one would like to see it stay like that.

All of you need to grow up.

Brock your preferences are entirely your choice, just watch the way you word them so you dont offend anyone. Irrespective of what it is you always have to be carefully whenyou discuss topics like Race, sex, Relegion, Politics etc. For those who flame him, try to understand everyone is different and not necessarily evil, all it takes is a little explaining to stop them from offending anyone.

The rest of you ought to shuttup and Squat before Jono tells you off... and of course eat some more after that !

Well im really with vv on this one, brock wasnt breaking any rules with his post, as long as he or anyone else stays within these boundaries they are free to say pretty much what they please, we cant go around moderating the way people talk or what they talk about, like vv said, its up to the individual to address this, or perhaps a friendly PM to the person to discuss how they may be offending others.

It's not what he said, it's how he said it.

It's fairly standard Internetspeak. If we get into micropolicing each others' turns of phrase then discussion on the forum is going to disappear up its own backside. (Personally, I find the illiteracy of many posters much more offensive). Besides, this is a bodybuilding forum. We are supposed to be muscular alpha males (or females), not a bunch of namby-pamby sniveling, whining politically-correct handwringers.

All of you need to grow up.

The thing is that some people make a career out of whining about nothing. However much you try to accommodate them, they'll just find something else to whine about, and we are under no obligation to try to accommodate them in the first place. Lets just amicably and honestly discuss relevant stuff and let the whiners slit their wrists if they are that upset

Oh my goodness!

I feel partly responsible for the controversy this topic has caused...

I would like to say that Brock's response was slightly immature in comparison the replies of the older members of this forum, however let the kid have his say - better to let him do it here than be out causing trouble in the streets...

Keep up the happy posts guys!

Since some posts in this thread seem to have drifted onto the subject of personality, I thought I would give my view on what personality traits are attractive in women. Basically, I don't really mind, provided they conform to the following minimum standards.

1. Must act like women: Must retain a sense of feminine style, demureness and decorum. Must not be loud, boorish, foul-mouthed or otherwise manlike. Must dress in a stylish and elegant fashion and not so as to look like slovenly men or cheap whores.

2. Must not hate men: Must not regard all men as rapists and bashers liable to be heaved into jail at the slightest whim of morally superior women. Must not see children and family homes as the exclusive property of women and men as upright dogs with paycheques whose sole function is to fund them. Must not constantly whine about previous real or imagined wrongs done to oneself by men. Must not believe it is OK to abuse and assault men but the crime of the century for the men to defend themselves. Must actually respect and value masculinity.

3. Must have realistic expectations of other people and life in general: Must not see it as one's absolute right to be wined, dined and showered with gifts by rich, handsome men while being a miserly fat pig oneself. Must expect to pay one's own way a full 50% of the time. Must not have inflated and contradictory expectations of men, like expecting a man to clime the corporate ladder in order to confer benefits on oneself AND have a great body and not spend too much time at work. Must not see it as the duty of the rest of the Universe to bend over backwards for the sake of satisfying one's own selfish whims or compulsively blame others whenever one is not deliriously happy. Must actually care about others rather than being obsessed with one's own navel.

4. Must be emotionally stable: Must not be inclined to burst into tears or throw temper tantrums at the drop of a hat. Must not display the personality traits of a Tasmanian devil with a hangover due to PMS or for any other reason. Must not be histrionic, narcissistic, chemical dependent or otherwise a nutcase.

Unfortunately there don't seem to be any New Zealand women left who match these requirements, which is why their disaffected men are deserting them in droves.

If there are any women out there who match these requirements and are seeking a relationship, I suspect that (if you are anything short of monstrously ugly) you would need only advertise the fact to be besieged with desirable suitors.

Thar Hearald link was very interesting, and I believe not too far from the mark. Being in my 30's it sounds great that there are all those women out there great odds

The situation is actually more pronounced than the article says because a considerable proportion of current immigrants are single women whereas very few are single men and the trend is expected to continue. Also, I suspect that while most single women in their 30s want a long term relationship, many single men in their 30s (like me) do not.
