What did everyone think of the Elite Pro Show?

Just got back from the show and thought the standard was awesome throughout the classes.

The pro's were stand out and the Polish Elite winner and double world champion would not look out of place in the pro line up, his legs in particular were amazing!

It's a credit to Mo and Mark for putting on such a great event and I hope they are back next year. Hopefully they can secure a nutrition sponsor for next year.

The highlight for me was seeing the pro's enter the crowd at the end and interact with the fans. If the looks on the people faces were anything to go by, the night was a big succes!

Very, very impressive. And yeah, having the pros come out and mingle with the crowd was awesome - and completely unexpected. I thought the MC was very good too.

I didn't go to the pre-judging, but the one complaint from someone who did was the number of long breaks. It seemed each stage of the pre-judging went faster than expected, so then they had to wait to start the next stage at the scheduled time. My friend left the venue for a second breakfast, then an extended lunch, then an early happy hour (or two) - just to fill in time between events. I guess to a certain extent that's hard for the organisers to avoid, but it is irritating for people, especially out-of-towners.

Finally, I thought the lighting was absolutely superb. I don't know who set it up, but my hat's off to them. It was pretty even all the way across a remarkably long stage, and the backlights really added depth and detail to the physiques. I'd love to see more backlighting used at other NZ shows, too.

I totally agree pseudonym, the MC Tony Doherty of the Doherty's Gym chain was great. Very polished and experienced, he kept everyone entertained throughout the evening.

I also think the pro's were very polished and both Dexter and inparticular Melivin were very well spoken, Melvin has one hell of a sense of humour!

The big wait between the amateur and elite was a drag to some but probably necassary as the promoters were allowing for a large number of amateurs to compete.

I mentioned to one of the helpers, a nice guy who I think may have been Moes brother, that perhaps a powerlifting contest in the attached gym and some expo's (wrestling, MMA's, nutrition stalls etc), might be a good way to fill the gap between classes.

Unfortunately no major nutritional supplement manufacturer jumped on board which is a shame because there was easily double the amount of fans at the venue than most shows get, which would have been a good chance to showcase their products. Hopefully someone jumps on board next year.

The lighting, pyrotechnics, music volume and general production value was of a very high standard and created a good atmosphere, it's nice also to live in a country where you can meet and have photos taken with the pro's without having 101 security guards present!

yeah i agree it was a good show, staging lighting and sound was good, great to hear the music loud at a b/b comp for once! it helps alot with the atmosphere and mood.was brillant to see the pro's up close and have a quick chat ect...

turn out looked reasonable and hopefully thats gonna encourage another show next year.

i agree that they should have some stalls and events to give some thing in the breaks to add some more life and completion to the event,

how about a fitness model bikini comp !lol

overall great and bring it back next year!

Those last 3 placings are a joke!

Anyone that was there can attest to that.

It was a good show, the pro's topped off the evening with their size and stage presence....Mr Melvin Anthony Jnr can certainly pose, what a performance and Dexter, he's a machine! Thoroughly enjoyed the Elites, the two Polish bodybuilders were awesome as were their posing routines.

I felt guilty sitting there nibbling on my M&M's while they were all on stage!

In reply to the question about the forum, there was a fairly small turnout, but it ended up being a fun, informal session. Lots of goodnatured joking. The audience were given the run of the show basically and asked to provide questions, but rather than being just a discussion of training techniques, it ended up being an interesting insight into the pros' lives. The guys were very lavish in their praise of NZ and the hospitality given to them and said that they would come back next year. The way Moe was talking, it seems that it could be all go for that to happen.

As someone who came up from Wellington, I think that next time I would stay the night in Henderson. It was a bit laboured doing 4 50 minute bus trips from Auckland to go to the shows and the forum, and it would have been sensible to have a base to go in between shows.

I traveled all the way from gisborne for this show and wasnt disappointed. Got heaps of photo's with the pro's but the highlight for me was talking to Melvin Anthony for almost half an hour, i never use to be a fan of his but after talking to him the guy is very funny and genuinly likes to talk, got a lost of advice from him, dexter was cahtty too and troy alves is extrmeley nice, Tony freeman was alittle less chatty as he was listiening ot his posing music and seemed very focused plus i was little scared to bug him cause his arms were massive. The polish guy who won the elite was awsome and i agree that he wouldnt look out of place in the pros.
