Looking pretty flash Pseu, well done! It's going to take a bit of getting used to but I'm sure we'll all get there in the end.

I did have a strange incident on the first night I was using the new and improved site. All of the graphics disappeared and there were just plain headings everywhere, hasn't happened since though.

Edit: Oh I spoke too soon, clicked 'home' after viewing this post and it did it again! Had to navigate around a bit to get all of the 'pretty' stuff back :)

If there are new posts, there will be a "5 topics with new posts" link under each forum box on the front page. You can also click the "View new posts" link in the Search dropdown at the top of every page. Either one will take you to the new posts section.

You just reminded me of another new feature:

Previously, if you closed your browser you would lose your unread posts (that is, they'd all be marked read). Now, you can start and stop browsing when you like, and the site will now track which posts you've read and which you haven't.

Laver - the not-stretching-to-wide-screens is by design. Text is a lot easier to read when the lines are shorter. It never used to be a problem when people's screens were running at lower resolutions, but now (and particularly with the rise of widescreens) more and more websites are opting for fixed-width designs.

Cammo, the advertising is a necessary evil, I'm afraid. I've kept it to a minimum though - just look at the NZ Herald if you think this is a lot!

Manu - I've had that problem once or twice two, so you're not just going mad! Hitting refresh or navigating to another page (as you found) seems to fix it. Weird that it only happens occasionally though. I've made a few little tweaks, so we'll see if that fixes it. Let me know if it keeps happening.

I never said nothin' - try frogie2001.

Site looks alright but I think you may have spent too much time worrying about how pretty it is & not enough time on it's ease of use.

I personally prefer VBulletin boards - nice, simple & everyone knows how to use them - this new upgrade may just scare a few newbies away that's all.

Ooops! That'll teach me not to check my facts properly. Sorry!

Yeah, I know what you mean about the VBulletin software. The main reason I prefer the phpBB forums is the huge number of modifications that are made available by its users. And from the admin point of view, there are some very cool functions in the new phpBB version that makes moderating much easier.

I don't think it'll scare the newbies away. If anything, they're at an advantage 'cos they might'nt (?) have seen the old version anyway.

All I meant about the newbies was that if they've been on other forums, they're more likely to be either the VBulletin or old school phpBB - I haven't seen anything like this before.

As I play around a bit more I'm warming up to it .... just getting used to something new I suppose - well done!

Yeah, I noticed it. :P

The reason for that is there's another subforum planned which one day will sit alongside it - Workout Templates. That's a little way off yet (there's a heap of programming required for that one) but it's in the pipeline.

I guess we can change it so that Workout Journals becomes a main forum on the front page, with Workout Templates (when it comes) being a subforum of that. Would that make things more intuitive?

Think some people need to stop being douche bags and appreciate Pseu's time/effort he puts into the site.

this thread aint about who apreciates admins efforts and who doesnt, its about who like the new forum format and who doesnt,

just because u like it doesnt make everyone else a douche bag, probably makes u one in my mind
