I'm interested to know how many of you use periodization principles in your training programme.

I will on occassion throw in a short 4-6 week cycle to sometimes deload or prepare for a competition. It was definitely the sole method of choice in the powerlifting circles back in the 80-90's and still to this day it is used with much success.

The key is to listen to your body and be mindful of training volume - I found it so easy to overtrain and therefore stress the CNS. Projected weights set months in advance can never account on how the body may feel when it came to lifting set weights/reps/sets on a partcular day.
