Where do you buy egg whites and natural peanut butter?

I went shopping today at Pak n' Save and New World, and couldn't find egg whites or natural peanut butter. What gives? when I was living in America you could just go to the store and pick up a carton of egg whites.

Where do you guys buy yours from? is it something only a health food store would stock?

Not sure about the peanut butter,

There are posts about egg whites if you use search function; they're not in supermarkets or health stores.

There are a couple of unpasturised suppliers Ive heard mentioned in various threads before, or eggcell which you have to order online, if I remember right its not NZ based company.

I know other posts talk about it; I am just to lazy to search and link for you

I will be stocking Egg white powder and possibly Pasturised Egg White liquid.

How much are you after? I can sort something out this week for you.

Don't worry too much about it, i'm just looking into egg whites at this stage. Thanks for the offer though, I may get back to you if things don't work out for me.

natural pb iz made by ceres organics

u can get it a foodtown $4.30 i think a jar

Cool. Only problem is there's no Foodtown in Invercargill =/ just New World, Countdown, Pak n' Save and Woolworths.

I'll do more extensive searching around supermarkets and health food stores tomorrow.

I can't remember the name but the shop/factory is in Avondale. they sell egg whites in 1 lt lots. total is about $25 for a box. worked it out though and it's just as cheap to buy the eggs and seperate them your self, if you buy it by the tray from a grocer down the rd. (lived out west)

I dunno about cheaper - I get three 10-eggwhite serves from a 1l bottle which costs me about $11.50 (or about $3.85/ serve). Buying 20-egg trays at around $7/ tray from New World, it works out to be $3.50/ serve.

Plus, there's the convenience factor - 30s in a blender versus making an omelette. I reckon that's worth the difference.

Now, if someone can deliver pasteurised frozen eggwhites cheaper than $11.50 per litre, I'd take 'em. You might be able to get unpasteurised eggwhites cheaper, but...

Cheers

Ok, so as promised here are the details:

1kg of Egg White Protein Powder contains the white of 260 medium sized eggs!

Works out to 904 grams of protein per KG. This is huge compared to Whey protein.

NUTRITION INFORMATION

Per Serving - 25g (approx 2 Tbsp)

Energy 235.5kJ

Protein 22.6g

Carbohydrates 2.1g

Sugar 0.0g

Fat 0.0g

Saturated Fat 0.0g

Sodiium 356mg

I am getting this stuff in bulk amounts so I will need to repackage it - So expect fairly blank tubs. It mixes with 7 parts water to 1 part powder.

Elsewhere the same product is $55.00 per KG plus delivery. I can do it for $40.00 - Larger amounts at a lesser price.

I will have it on Friday all going to plan.

Thanks,

Sam.

Dude I don't mean to be a party pooper but I haven't come across 90% pure egg white protein before. Are you sure your nutritional profiles correct because the one you've provided is so wrong it's not funny.

A 25g serve provides

22.6 Protein

2.1g Carbs

356mg of Sodium

Thats 25.056g in my book - where's the moisture gone let alone the other minerals?

And 235kj? - that's 55 calories - it should be at least 100 calories from the carbs and protein in it. If you're going to sell something you should make sure you know what you selling first.

Based off the following:

Fat: 1 gram = 9 calories

Protein: 1 gram = 4 calories

Carbohydrates: 1 gram = 4 calories

Protein + Carbs = 98.8 Calories per serve of 25grams.

Or 413 Kilojoules...

So yes, the Kilojoules amount is off by a fair bit it seems. I am basing it off what the manufacturer provided.

You can find the equivalent product here http://www.eggcell.co.nz for your reference - Which is from the same wholesaler.

* This post includes the previous one I edited.

I know dude, I noticed the same thing during my time in America. It's ridiculous how you can just go to the supermarket and grab some egg whites, yet when I asked around stores here people had never even heard of such a thing.

I don't get why NZ is so backward like that.

I got some powdered egg whites from America, pretty interesting stuff. You just do them up like a pyklet or pancake or something, after absorbing the powder into hot water. They don't taste the best, but it's good protein either way.
