Comparing two ex Mr Olympias

Matrix

Recommended Posts

Thought i'd start a new thread comparing 2 ex Mr Olympias. Its only subjective, see what you think?

Ronnie(early 2000's, before Lat and Tricep problems) and Dorian

(93, before Bi and Tri tears)

Calves:Dorian(some of the best)

Quads: Ronnie(size), Dorian(definition)

Abs:Dorian(at peak)

Chest: Ronnie(size), Dorian(definition/striations)=Tie

Shoulders:Ronnie(close)

Bi's: Ronnie(arguably best of all time)

Tris: Dorian

Forearms: Tie, both huge

Hamstrings: Ronnie

Glutes: Ronnie(unique development)

LowerBack/Xmas tree:Tie

Mid Back/thickness:Tie

Lats:Tie(toss a coin on this one)

Traps:tie

Overall Conditioning/leaness:Dorian

Overall Symmetry:Tie(both pre injuries),Pretty close or no contest?, either way it's important to appreciate that both men peaked at different times, Dorian in the early to mid nineties and Ronnie in the late nineties to early 2000's. Would have been interesting to see them both at their best.

arnold could never beat dorian . neither could have ronnie or jay or anyone else in the history of bb when dorian was in his prime.

And if you disagree then check out this video and then tell me who you think could have beaten him.

This was 3 weeks out from the 93 olympia. No tan and totally flat.

Just to clear it up, I was just comparing Ronnie Coleman and Dorian Yates body part to body part.

I agree that in his prime Dorian couldnt be beaten on the Olympia stage(early nineties) as its a big mans competition, and no "smaller" man has one there since Chris Dickerson. The Arnold tends to be a "smaller" mans stage.

What i was trying to say at the end there was that when Dorian was winning, Ronnie was placing 10-15th ish and hadnt reached his potential and that when Ronnie did peak, Dorian had already retired.

I do think that both men are or have been unbeatable during their reigns as Mr Olympias when they have turned up in 100%best shape. But I also believe that both should have been legitamately beaten when they have turned up off.

For example Shawn Ray in his career best shape(1994) imo should have beaten a wide waisted and bicep torn Dorian, and been battling an outstanding Kevin Leverone for the title.(Shawn was, imo rightfully pissed when Dorian bet him in the symmetry round with a torn/shortened bicep).

Imo the same could be said about the one year Jay turned up at his career best against a below par Ronnie, won the prejudging but lost the show.

The reigning Mr Olympia has an incubancy factor where the Champ has to be clearly and undeniably beaten to loose his title. Love it or hate it, that is the way it seems to work at that comp and evidence of this is shown throughout its history with some "interesting" descisions leaving people to debate them for years to come.
