Hey ya'll

Just moved up from Wgtn to Auckland for work. Can anyone recomend me a realy CHEAP gym in CBD/Mt Eden/surrounding central suburbs? (Auckland Uni gym seems to be cheapest from my research thus far)

Equipment and service is not really an issue, just looking for the basics - heavy dumbells, bench, squat rack.

Thanx in advance

evo, u can buy my bts membership if u like? will cost u $50 transfer fee and weekly payments are ONLY $9.90 PER WEEK!!! for this u get use of all 3 bts gyms mt eden, symonds st and glen eden!

has 9 months left on contract and u can keep paying same anmount after its finished without having to sign another contract.

$9.90 is very cheap, as i got hooked up from the gym

btw miada gym is $15 a week no contract (the reason no contract is coz ther is no point in having one as ppl who join dnt honour the contract a few weeks later when they find out the owner is a total wanker)

get back to me

I've trained at Health and Sports for four years now. Costs me $650 a year for a lump sum membership, and I get to use two gyms for the price of one (Kingsland and Newton). Staff are pretty good, but then again I just get in and get out.

I train there too - same as you, get in/get out.

They've just put their prices up apparantly, and won't let people transfer memberships anymore.

i went to health and sports in kingsland a year ago for a casual, tryed to charge me $25!!

If the casual rate was $5-10, you'd have every Tom, Dick and Harry packing it out and using the equipment... members paying regular membership fees would be waiting a lot longer to use a treadmill, use a bench etc etc...

Take the Auckland Uni gym for example. Cheap casual rates - yes (cheap rates in general for that matter). Is it packed out? - Like sardines in a can!

The owner of Miada Gym is actually a really nice guy who just has no tolerance for wankers who cant read english or follow basic gym rules, thanks 2GUNS! And the 1yr membership rate is actually $11pw with no joining fees....But if you want no contract at all, no joining fees, no other charges then you can just pay $15 for a 7-day membership. It was introduced about 6 months ago so people were not paying a weekly membership when they were not using the gym. The gym is very well equipped and being a smaller gym of around 250 members - most who have been members for several years, I might add (they would be the ones who follow simple rules of cleanliness, use of a towel, putting weights away etc). No aerobics classes tho so if leotards are your thing, probably out of luck!:lol::lol:

And we do have a casual rate of $10 if you want to try it out once...and we don't care if your name is Tom, Dick or Harry just bring a towel or hire one for a $1 and read at least one of the two big posters that have the gym rules on them please! or the owner (that would be me) can be a real prick! :pfft:
